The Digital Man's Sports Page
You know, it's a curse being a New Yorker. Don't get me wrong, there are
plenty of benefits. But anyone from New York that follows sports is
doomed to misery for long periods of time. The worst thing about New
York sports fans is that they don't give up. I've actually caught myself
saying that this might be the Mets' year! Yeah, right!
By the way, wherever possible, I've used personal web pages, as opposed
to commercial pages. I'm a sports fan. I want you to see what sports
fans think of their teams, not what companies think.
The Good...
If there is any such thing as New York teams that you have to love,
these are they.
The New York
Giants are the New York area's only football team worth following.
Mets Online provides you
with all sorts of information about the 1997 World Champions New York
Mets. Hey, a guy can dream, can't he?
Here's a
link to David
Strauss' great looking Islanders page.
The only
good Knicks page I could find is this
one, run by the NBA.
...The Bad...
When you grow up a New York sports fan, you learn to love one
team and despise its competition. Here's the competition.
This guy
spent a great deal of time working on this page, and it shows. Too bad
he wasted all that time on the
Yankees.
What the
hell is the point of being a Rangers fan? Do I
look like I'm ready to wait another 54 years for another Stanley cup?
Or maybe I
should become a Devils fan.
Ha! They're nothing but a fluke.
The
Nets are so useless that there aren't even any personal pages out
there about them.
...And The Ugly.
The Buffalo Bills once lost
four Super Bowls in a row. The first one they lost was to the Giants,
by the way.
But nothing
is nearly as ugly as the New York Jets. Nobody
loves them. There are barely any commercial pages devoted to them, much
less personal ones. |
