I'm really liking them. Next up is the rest of the > discography :) Well, IMHO Second Stage is the worst of their albums. So you should be fine. - Edu ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Sep 2005 00:31:51 -0400 From: "Paul W. This has been the case with most of the dates on the tour, excepting, e.g., Quebec City, NYC and (of course) ProgPower. I'm told they drew only about 150 in Minneapolis, but played as if they were performing in front of 5,000+.... Always cool when a band does that. > On disc, Therion > sounds like a very "big" band. If it weren't so hot, I might have > thought about jumping in !^) A small pit broke out during their ProgPower show.....which is, of course, banned by Glenn H., the promoter. He didn't intervene. The same yahoos moshed during Stratovarius (whyyyyyyyy?) and Glenn put the smackdown on 'em. :) > It was cool that they brought vocalists on > tour with them, but on such a small stage, they were kind of distracting > to me. The two male singers (both from fuckin' Finland) were sometimes animated at PP, throwing the horns on rare occasions, although their usual schtick is to remain fairly stoic and sing. :) > I did see the lead female vocalist smile a few times at the > crowd, but half the time, I interpreted the look on her face as being > uncomfortable (maybe because the crown almost tossed a stage diver right > into her a few times) Sounds like it was a reallly small stage. Here she was more animated, but it was a big venue with a (surprisingly!) rabid crowd. > All of the vocalists sounded great. However, it was distracting to see the > three (4?) Four, plus the solo soprano (Sara Jezebel Deva's former role; she is now with Cradle of Filth only). > in the back sitting there doing nothing most of the time while > the band thrashed around on stage, everyone was so close. I think this might be due to the club's layout. At ProgPower, the backing voices left the stage and went side-stage during songs when they weren't needed. The stage was reallly big, too, so they had plenty of room to thrash around while not endangering eachother....much. :) > Lots of energy, > LOTS, and the music didn't suffer for it. "Black Funeral." Some venues have been lucky enough to get "Seawinds." (!) > Definitely a unique band which while becoming a lot > more mature musically, has not lost its hardcore edge. Thanks to Paul for > helping bring them here. Dunno how much I helped overall with the tour, but I'm told they booked it around ProgPower after they were confirmed for that date, and Glenn couldn't have booked them without my sponsorship, so....cool. :) > I was in Sweden two months ago... never occurred > to me to ask anyone there, just to get a vibe on how popular they are in > their home country. I'll have to ask around. It's not as if we don't know anyone from Sweden these days; kick over a rock here and out pops a guy from a Swedish metal band. Oh, hi, Urban. :) -- +----------- Paul W.
