Umm....no. Maiden's last scheduled date was at the Devore show (hence the reason why Sharon felt justified in trying to ruin Maiden's set). While I don't think it was appropriate for Bruce to slag off Ozzy publicly, certainly while on the Ozzfest tour, what Sharon did was completely reprehensible. I've never seen an Ozzy or Sabbath show, and it looks like I never will...unless Sabbath goes on without Ozzy at some point. Maiden was already committed to European festivals, and the LA show was scheduled to be their last one all along, with Velvet Revolver replacing them for the last few dates. I was actually at the eggfest, and in all my years of concerts (including every Ozzfest but one), I have never witnessed something so moronic as what happened last weekend. What little respect I had for Sharon went down the toilet. And I was pleasantly amused to see so many people leave right after that. Even through Sabbath's set there was a constant parade of people leaving. I went back to my seat for 2 songs, and to see half the audience (or what was left of it) actually SITTING made quite a statement ;-) cheryl ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Aug 2005 22:36:54 -0400 From: crow To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: Iron Maiden: non DT content. The Devore, CA date was their last because of prior committments and Velvet Revolver was always scheduled to play the last week or so of dates. However the inexcusable treatment they received from Sharon and Co is true. Blabbermouth has a pretty accurate account of exactly what went down. Read it for yourselves and make up your own mind as to who was at fault. It was the last date that they were scheduled. There is a lot of controversy over who started the egg throwing. Err, actually, they were never scheduled for the tour after the now-infamous Los Angeles date, where Velvet Revolver was scheduled to pick up. Maiden has European festivals to play. The events that occurred at the Los Angeles show, with Sharon Osbourne orchestrating a coordinated attack (egging, bottle-throwing, spitting etc.) on Iron Maiden during their set, under the guise of dissing just Bruce Dickinson, have totally sickened me toward Sharon and her ilk. There's a lot of information about this at, e.g., Blabbermouth.net, and there is a hot topic of discussion on the ProgPower USA forum (www.progpowerusa.com). Some fans have already begun inundating Ozzfest sponsors with emails indicating their intent to boycott their products unless they sever ties with Ozzfest, and at least one sponsor is considering dropping off, or has already. This should be the death-knell for Ozzfest. Frankly, as far as I care.....good fuckin' riddance. -- +----------- Paul W. My bandmate's friend got us better tickets than the ones I have, so I have my three spares. Not wonderful seats (bought them last week, they've been on sale for months), but still... they're there :) Email me offers privately if anyone wants. ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 7200 ************************** === Contributions to ytsejam: ytsejam@torchsong.com === === Send requests to: ytsejam-request@torchsong.com === === More information at: http://www.dreamt.org/local/ytsejam.php === === Brought by the ghost of ytsejam@arastar.coms past === === Reach the owner of this list at: ytsejam-owner@torchsong.com ===
