I didn't believe it at first, coz it due june7th, but when i listened to it i realised this was it! I have NO idea how it got on the net months before its release, but its there. The album is tremendously heavy, i would call it a Linkin Park/System of a Down/Children of Bodom mixture. It is not at all the DT we are used to, no slow balads, beautiful solos, just hardcore metal! But i must admit i like it. It's gonna do well on tour with Megadeth:) If you are dying to have it, we can meet on irc or smthn and i can send to you (or you can just DL it from eMule) Have fun, Martin --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Someone on Soulseek told me they had an advanced leak but it was like 64 kbps so it sounded like crap. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Martin Kastelic" To: "Multiple recipients of list" Sent: Thursday, April 14, 2005 6:07 AM Subject: OCTAVARIUM > --0-791131418-1113472632=:47806 > Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii > > Hi guys, > > While i was searching for a DT video on eMule yesterday, i found a rar > file that was called DT - Octavarium. I haven't heard much from him (although I'd love to hear a lot more, since I loved what he did on Derek's last album), but I'm sure the new album is going to kick major ass, like everything they've done. Just yesterday I was wondering what was up with PX, so these news are right on cue :-) By the way, wasn't TJ Helmerich supposed to be their new guitarist? And what albums would you recommend by Holdsworth? Thanks! Alexis __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? That is correct, and prior to that, c.1996-97 he went by VIC, I believe. -Rick ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Apr 2005 18:58:49 -0400 From: WB Henderson To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: OCTAVARIUM Message-ID: Martin Kastelic wrote: >The album is tremendously heavy, i would call it a Linkin Park/System of a >Down/Children of Bodom mixture. Not to come off like some metalsnob jerk here, but if you believe those comparison bands are tremendously heavy, you need to listen to more metal. The idea of Dream Theater sounding anything like Linkin Park is a little unnerving. I hope my ears hear differently whenever I get a hold of the album. Looking forward to the Gigantour: quality line-up so far. Anyone know what sort of venues it will be hitting? A $35 ticket price makes an outdoor big-venue show unlikely, but the two stages would argue that it almost has to be outdoors. Maybe it's $35 before ClearChannel/ sinks its bloated thumb into the pie? $35 for lawn seats (pretty steep)? Regardless, that price certainly doesn't include TicketMaster's 'screw you' charge. Last TM tickets I bought (Motvrhead) had nearly 60% face value in 'convenience' fees tacked on. For two tickets, it would've actually been cheaper for me to drive 20 miles to the venue, pay for parking and buy the tickets from the box office. I just got an "Octavarium" through eMule, that was a renamed Elements of Persuasion. That album fits your description prefectly. Although I don't think there's much Kinking Park in it.
