I liked the stuff I heard online recently, thanks to those who first mentioned it on this list a few weeks ago. I've also been listening to the new The Mars Volta lately, but not quite liking it as much as "de-loused". I still like it though. Other high-rotation items of late have been (oddly enough) "Train of Thought", Meshuggah "I", PoS "Be", Sleepytime Gorilla Museum "Of Natural History", Muse "Origin of Symmetry" and "Hullabaloo", and a bunch of indie rock like Death Cab For Cutie, Longwave, Interpol, Pinback, The Fire Theft, and so on. Speaking of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, I managed to catch their show the other night, which was, in a word, spectactular: http://electricrain.com/spine/photos/2005mar19_sleepytime_gorilla_museum/ Last time I saw them was at the same venue in San Francisco, shortly after September 11, 2001. On that note... they toured with Coheed and Cambria. If anyone isn't a fan of them yet either, you should be... they're also wonderful. Our alternaprogrock band covers their tune "The Crowing". > I've also been listening to the new The Mars Volta lately, but not quite > liking it as much as "de-loused". I still like it though. It'll grow on you ;) It did for me, now I CAN'T STOP! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 22 Mar 2005 17:57:39 -0600 From: "JM Souter" To: "ytsejam" Subject: POS ! Run, don't walk. RUN to http://www.dreamtheater.net and order James's CD. It's not a mellow Progressive "Rock" CD. Good Progressive Metal. From: Mike Shetzer S'all good. You said it, the ear of the beholder. Anyone get a hold of the new James the Brie album? I hear it's great, but have yet to experience it for myself. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Mar 2005 07:50:31 -0000 From: "Graham Boyle" To: Subject: Ytsejam Official Bootlegs Message-ID: Got the complete new set yesterday. The DVD is friggin awesome, the encores with Charlie and Derek are brilliant. The 70 I Can Remember when from 1989 is great, Charlie was pretty good live back then. The audio commentry is great, very interesting. Number Of The Beast The material suits LaBrie better than MoP, pretty close to what IM did except for Gangland, a jazzed up version. I&W demo's Haven't played yet, but nothing I don't have already on bootleg. Buy em all they are great WBR Graham ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 7113 ************************** === Contributions to ytsejam: ytsejam@torchsong.com === === Send requests to: ytsejam-request@torchsong.com === === More information at: http://www.dreamt.org/local/ytsejam.php === === Brought by the ghost of ytsejam@arastar.coms past === === Reach the owner of this list at: ytsejam-owner@torchsong.com ===
