"I just literally came from the very last session tonight - we just finished the album tonight, we start mixing it on Monday," DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy revealed during a live appearance Friday night (Feb. 25) on the "Friday Night Rocks" show on New York's Q104.3 FM. "We'll be delivering it to the label a couple of weeks after that. I think it's gonna be out in May. I mean, the tour starts in June, so hopefully the record will be on the shelves before then. "What's it like? It's awesome. It's a little bit of everything - it's really a mixed bag. It's like classic DREAM THEATER where it's got some long songs, some short songs, some heavy songs." As previously reported, DREAM THEATER's "Live At Budokan" two-DVD set was recently certified platinum. Released last October, "Live At Budokan" documents DREAM THEATER's April 26, 2004 show at Tokyo's Budokan Hall. Disc 1 of the two-DVD set has the complete live concert. Disc 2 is packed with special features including a Japanese tour documentary, the drum solo from Osaka, tours of Guitar World and Keyboard World by John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess, the tour opening video and a multiangle version of "Instrumedley". Upcoming DREAM THEATER shows: Jun. 10 - Sweden Rock Festival - Solvesborg, SWE Jun. 11 - Arrow Rock Festival - Lichtenvoorde, NETH Jun. 12 - Buchholz Footballstadium - Zurich, SWI Jun. 18 - Loca Rock Festival - Murcia, SPA Jun. 26 - Graspop Festival - Dessel, BEL ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Feb 2005 15:34:52 -0600 From: Nate Wilhelm To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: 3 Message-ID: I really like this band also. I saw them open for Coheed & Cambria a few months back and finally managed to track down a copy of their Summercamp Nightmare CD. It took a little while to grow on me (they sound better live), but I like it. I hadn't realized they have another cd out. I'm definitely going to get it. > Date: Fri, 25 Feb 2005 15:35:59 -0500 > From: Mike Shetzer > To: Ytsejam > Subject: 3 > Message-ID: <002b01c51b79$9d422e00$9b00a8c0@MIKE> > > --Boundary_(ID_JLiL++3avLGjYowupCa+ew) > Content-type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 > Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT > > Anyone ever hear of this NY based band? > A product of guitarist / vocalist Joey Eppard, this band has just been unstoppable in my CD player as of yet. I just got their most recent release entitled Wake Pig, and I haven't been this impressed with a disc in several months! A comparison can be drawn to Mars Volta and Coheed & Cambria, two excellent bands that I enjoy very much. On a side note, I gotta give another plug to both of those bands as they are among the highest on my list of recent discoveries. > Tight rhythm, great acoustic guitarwork, original and powerful vocal melodies, and above all... doesn't seem to show any pretention. Never over the top, friendly on the ears, but still blisteringly precise and smooth with a taste of heaviness and power. Highly recommended! > Apparently they have 2 other albums, one of which is a live collection, and Eppard has a solo album as well. I'm freakin loving this album! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Feb 2005 19:12:28 -0500 From: Mike Shetzer To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: New Dream Theater album completed Message-ID: <001001c51c61$0638ac30$9b00a8c0@MIKE> Yeesh! The boys never stop! How reliable is this, if DT.net and the UACM newsletter hasn't said anything? I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if this was indeed true, but... No word on a title? number of songs? JP making even MORE insane solos than he did on TOT? I'm trying to grab the Joey Eppard solo album somewhere too, and 3 also seems to have some older albums as well. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nate Wilhelm" To: "Multiple recipients of list" Sent: Saturday, February 26, 2005 4:34 PM Subject: Re: 3 >I really like this band also. I think we'll have at least 10 songs this time, maybe the "standard" 11 or 12. At least one instrumental, perhaps a multi part song. I also predict a further continuation of the next steps of The Glass Prison. I predict a chill, relaxed, maybe even poppy short tune, but one that totally does not represent the rest of the album. I also predict it will FREAKING KICK ASS. =) ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 7093 ************************** === Contributions to ytsejam: ytsejam@torchsong.com === === Send requests to: ytsejam-request@torchsong.com === === More information at: http://www.dreamt.org/local/ytsejam.php === === Brought by the ghost of ytsejam@arastar.coms past === === Reach the owner of this list at: ytsejam-owner@torchsong.com ===
