To Live Forever Speak To Me Eve Cover My Eyes Freeport Jam Lost Without You Long Island Expressway Raise The Knife You Or Me Don't Look Past Me Where Are You Now YOU HAVE TO ADD The Way It Used To Be. I THINK THAT'S PRETTY MUCH IT, UNLESS YOU ADD THE MAJESTY DEMO SONGS, WHICH ARE DEFINITELY DREAM THEATER SONGS. This also begs the question (which I posted a few weeks ago) as to why since FII we've seen no b-sides or rarities or demos or anything, IMHO, interesting as fanclub / gift CD material. :( I THINK THE REASON FOR THAT IS THE FACT THAT DT CHANGED THE WAY THEY WRITE MUSIC AFTER THAT. AFTER LTE, DT DECIDED TO USE THE SAME FORMULA OF GOING INTO THE STUDIO AND WRITE WHAT THEY NEEDED FOR THE ALBUM AND THAT'S IT. THEY DON'T WRITE ANY SONGS IN ADVANCE, SO THERE ARE NO SONGS TO BE LEFT OUT. IT ALSO SEEMS LIKE EVERYTHING THEY'VE WRITTEN SINCE THEN HAS BEEN GOOD ENOUGH TO MAKE IT INTO THE ALBUMS. Message-ID: > Anyone here have a complete, or relatively complete, list of all the > *original* songs Dream Theater has issued as special gifts to their fan > club and/or released as b-sides over the years? Here's the contents of each FC CD (aside from the 2004 one, which hasn't been sent out by Theater of Dreams yet): 1996-3 tracks from the Uncovered show (January 31st, 1995) that were not on the A Change of Seasons CD - Red Hill Mining Town (U2), Tears (Rush) and Damage Inc (Metallica). It also features a full band cover of Oh Holy Night which was recorded at a soundcheck in Portland Oregon (in 1993), as well as opening and closing messages from Mike, John P, John M and Derek 1997-"The Making of Falling Into Infinity" Each of the 11 tracks is represented with various snippets of the songs at various stages. However, only alternate version of Take Away My Pain is included in its entirety. 1998-"Once in a LIVEtime Outtakes" Selection of songs that didn't make it on to Once in a LIVEtime. The songs are primarily from the semi-acoustic show in Rotterdam (June 22nd, 1998) with four taken from the Paris show three nights later. The track listing is: Eve, Speak to Me, Lifting Shadows Off a Dream, Hey You (Pink Floyd), The Silent Man, Cover My Eyes, Mean Street (Van Halen), Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (Elton John), Anna Lee, To Live Forever/Lines in the Sand, Thank You's (the band thanking the various fan club members), Bad (U2) 1999-"Cleaning Out the Closet" Studio recordings of a number of songs that had never been released or were only available on import CDs. The tracklisting is: Don't Look Past Me, To Live Forever 91 (the original Atco demo), To Live Forever 94 (B-side on the Lie single), Eve (bonus track on Japanese pressing of Awake), Raise the Knife, Where Are You Now, Cover My Eyes, Speak to Me (bonus track on Japanese pressing of Falling Into Infinity) and The Way It Used to Be (B-side on the Hollow Years single). 2000-"Scenes From a World Tour" Various tracks culled from Mike's DAT archive of the 1999/2000 tour. The tracklisting is: Heaven and Hell (Black Sabbath), Erotomania/Paradigm Shift/Universal Mind, What Did They Say (a compilation of the band hamming it up with the lyrics), Wipe Out, Canadian Rap, War Pigs (Black Sabbath), Jordan's Keyboard Solo, The Spirit Carries On, John's Guitar Solo, The Gladiator Theme (an instrumental piece John performs with accompaniment from Jordan), The Zoo (Scorpions)/Learning to Live/Whole Lotta Love (Led Zeppelin), End of the Show (band thanking the road crew) 2001-"Four Degrees of Radio Edits" Same tracks that appeared on the promotional CD sent out to radio stations. The tracks are The Test That Stumped Them All, and edited versions of Misunderstood, Blind Faith and Solitary Shell. Atco Demos-These were 3 songs that were recorded as a demo deal struck with the then Atco label (which later merged with EastWest, and finally Elektra). The tracklisting is: Metropolis pt.1, To Live Forever (same as TLF 91 on Cleaning Out the Closet), Take the Time 2002-"Taste the Memories" Selection of songs from the November 19th, 1992 and August 28th, 1993 shows in Japan. These are songs that are not available on any official live releases, or are performed differently. Additionally, an audience recording of the first live performance of A Change of Seasons with James is included as a bonus track. The tracklisting is: Mission: Impossible, Afterlife, Under a Glass Moon, Wait For Sleep, Moon Bubbles, To Live Forever, Only a Matter of Time, Puppies on Acid/Take the Time, A Change of Seasons (bonus track) 2003-"Graspop 2002" Complete recording of DT's performance at the 2002 Graspop Festival - entire thing is soundboard except for the opening few minutes of TGP (since MP's DAT was started late). Tracklisting is: The Glass Prison, The Mirror, Lie, Peruvian Skies, War Inside My Head, The Test That Stumped Them All, The Great Debate, Home, Pull Me Under (with Master of Puppers inserted in the middle) Also, don't forget abooot the official bootleg releases that can be purchased at www.ytsejamrecords.com - unlike traditional bootlegs, the band receives money from these bootlegs. Also, these are in the best quality you'll ever be able to get. There's 6 available releases now, with 3 more (4 including the DVD) available at the end of the month. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 8 Feb 2005 15:14:49 -0300 From: Eduardo Ojeda To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: Be Message-ID: > Didi anyone else notice that there are same talkshow clips in the tarck > Nauticus on PoS's album Be as DT used in The Great Debate? > Interesting... The voice inflections sound like "bad acting" to me. The clips in The Great Debate sound like actual news footage, not acting. But I could be wrong. I usually am. ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 7083 ************************** === Contributions to ytsejam: ytsejam@torchsong.com === === Send requests to: ytsejam-request@torchsong.com === === More information at: http://www.dreamt.org/local/ytsejam.php === === Brought by the ghost of ytsejam@arastar.coms past === === Reach the owner of this list at: ytsejam-owner@torchsong.com ===
