YTSEJAM Digest 7081 Today's Topics: 1) random thoughts by Alexis Ramos ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 1 Feb 2005 17:19:56 -0800 (PST) From: Alexis Ramos To: ytsejam Subject: random thoughts Message-ID: Alright, some random thoughts to get things flowing. I love the song Don't Look Past Me. I had this song in my mind for almost one whole week, nonstop. DT should play it live sometime. I love the lyrics, love the melody, everything. And the songs Raise the Knife and Where Are You Now are great as well. That CD Cleaning Out the Closet is as good as any other DT regular album. They could have sold that album like many other bands do (b-sides albums), but they chose to give it out as a gift. Thanks DT!!! The album Oblivion Days by The Rocket Scientists kicks ass. This is Erik Norlander's band (excellent keyboardist; Lana Lane's husband). This is high quality prog. They never overdo it; the songwriting is extremely solid. Highly recommended. Chain's most recent album Chain.exe is very good. The music is awesome, as good as it can get. Progressive music with taste. Henning Pauly is awesome, along with the rest of the band. Actually, I think Eddie Marvin (drums, also played in Frameshift) is one of the best drummers I've heard, at least in prog music. He has the chops and his playing is as tasteful as it gets. The only downside to this album, IMO, is the vocals and the melodies. It's taken me quite a while for the melodies to sink in, and Matt Cash is an ok singer at best. The difference between this album and Frameshift, vocally speaking, is like heaven and hell. If James was singing and contributing to the vocal melodies in this album, I think Chain.exe could have been a classic. As it stands right now, it's still very good, but IMO could have had better vocals. BTW, if you hadn't heard, Pauly is recording the new Frameshift album, but this time with Sebastian Bach on vocals. It will kick ass, without a doubt. 24 kicks serious ass!!!!!!!!!!! I'm hooked. Enough. Alexis __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - 250MB free storage. Do more.
