I don't recall the drummer's name, but I think it wasn't somebody who's a household name. The bass player is his G3 partner, Dave LaRue (yeaaaaaa!!!!). __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - now with 250MB free storage. It's on the MP forum and probably elsewhere. Dave Larue has been around a while. I saw him play with Planet X in the Australian tour. During someone's instrumental, all the other players left the stage, Dave taking his bass with him. He came back on when the solo was ending and spent a few seconds running frantically around the stage, looking for his bass before running off to get it :P Niall > -----Original Message----- > From: ytsejam@torchsong.com [mailto:ytsejam@torchsong.com]On Behalf Of > Mike Shetzer > Sent: Friday, 21 January 2005 2:33 PM > To: Multiple recipients of list > Subject: Re: YTSEJAM digest 7071 > > > Where did you get said information? > I don't know Tony and Dave... who are they? > > > From: "Nicolas" > > To: "Multiple recipients of list" > > Sent: Thursday, January 20, 2005 9:30 PM > > Subject: Re: YTSEJAM digest 7071 > > > > > > > The musicians that will play on JP solo album are: > > > > > > Dave Larue on Bass > > > Tony Verderosa just in one track > > > and Dave Dicensio in the other tracks. > > > > > > No keyboards though. > > > ---YTSEJAM-FILTER: This message was posted using the YML command > ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Jan 2005 05:59:09 -0500 From: Ian Perge To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: JP album Message-ID: On Thu, 20 Jan 2005 19:29:26 -0500, Mike Shetzer wrote: >Too bad it doesn't say who else is playing on it, or a more concrete release date, >or track times. >Predictions for musicians who will play with him? It'd be nice to have varying musicians. Well, as the initial sessions for JP's album have been tracked since between the 2001 G3 tour that led to said material and the 6DOIT tour (Fall of 2001), it's fairly easy to track down who recorded with him*. Dave LaRue continued his role as bassist on the G3 tour for the recordings, and was joined by Berklee College of Music Instructor/monster drummer Dave DiCenso (http://www.davedicenso.com) on seven tracks and Tony Verderosa on one (http://www.tonyverderosa.com, and damn, does this idea of "DJ drumming" rock something hardcore! :) I've heard since then that Petrucci has entered the studio for a number of overdub sessions but nothing regarding "rhythm section" changes, so I suppose we'll have to wait until the release and liner notes to see who played on what. *Source: http://www.dreamtheater.net/news_petrucci.php#jpsolo >It'd be nice to have varying musicians. I'd say that LaRue/DiCenso/Verderosa *are* varying musicians, and unlike Portnoy/TLev/Myung/Sheehan ones who JP hasn't recorded with before. It'll be nice to hear JP playing with people who come from a fairly different background. Modern prog need to break out of it's somewhat incestous relationships, anyway. :D ..besides, if Portnoy had played on the sessions he either would have turned it into a "project" with him much more involved creatively, or recorded and then pretty much disavowed any liking of the recording, ala the KevMo and OSI situation. ;-) ~Ian PS - Damn, I'm reading DiCenso's discography and just found out he played on Duran Duran's track ("Out Of My Mind") from "The Saint" remake in 1997. I've always dug that tune, and thought Joe Travers (Z, Mike Keneally and Beer For Dolphins, current Zappa family "Vaultmeister") had recorded it, as he recorded and toured with DD throughout the latter 90's until the original lineup reformed a year or so ago. ----------------- Ian M. If they're commercial discs, it seems unlikely that so many players can't read it... have you found any players that do? < Yeah, I always make sure the disc is clean, but I have never tried the lens cleaners. Ironically, an old, inexpensive Technics 3 disc changer I have can play almost anything. The more expensive Kenwoods have problems (home component and car). A Compaq laptop dvd drive also has problems, but it's a pos (the other acronym!). It can't successfully make a cd-r half of the time. Also have problems with an inexpensive home DVD player. It just seems to me that when I have these problems, it's always an ~80 minute disc, and the problems occur towards the end. May be a reason not to make 80 minute cd's, if they are prone to these problems. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
