I've had some difficulty explaining it to lay people... Your asking got me to wondering abooot it, so I did some digging... Turns out that the thread I remember reading was posted in March of 2003! So not seeing anything else abooot what the story was, I posted a question on the forum asking what was up with it, and here's the response I got: "They cancelled it. They said they'd probably re-record some songs for special releases, but that they saw how they didn't have time for it and they'd focus on the new album instead." So sorry guys - didn't mean to get your hopes up - I still thought it was happening, but apparently I missed the announcement that they scrapped the idea.
