They're very dramatic and somewhat operatic. The singer reminds me vaguely of Mindcrime era Geoff Tate. I guess they're more like Queensryche than anyone else I can think of, although I never really liked Queensryche beyond Mindcrime. I find Eternity X much more palatable (although I only know one of their albums - the edge). They're not at all 80s though, so that makes the unlike 'ryche. They have soaring (if not technically difficult) guitar solos, nice crunchy riffs at times, and decent keys. I really like them for their concepts. The Edge is something of a concept album, but I remember they had one called Zodiac too. I never heard it, but I think it had one song for each sign of the zodiac. I thought that was a really cool idea for an album. Anyhow, if you get a chance, check out the Edge, which is something of a little known masterpiece. Quoth Mike Shetzer:Another X attached band, hm?Never heard of them... what are they (were they) like? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 22 Nov 2004 23:22:37 -0500 From: Mike Shetzer To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: Eternity X Message-ID: <000601c4d114$107c9e10$9b00a8c0@mizz> You talking about the Bush X that I mentioned? Hah, cmon, you know Gavin Rossdale and xo from the mid-late nineties with songs that were much like Oasis lyrics (ie nonsensical) like Greedy Fly, Glycerine, etc. Dunno if they're still around, but sometimes I listen to their old stuff to make me laugh at the lack of talent needed to make it big ;) I commented on them because I think they were originally called Bush, and when they became popular in the States (I believe they're British), they had to add an X because someone else had the name already, not the Prez, but maybe Kate Bush? If you want another band that like Symphony, uses the X in a good way, check out the 70s-80s fusion monsters Brand X. They're sick musicians and have quite a few albums! ----- Original Message ----- From: To: "Multiple recipients of list" Sent: Monday, November 22, 2004 8:42 PM Subject: Re: Eternity X > Hmm, difficult for me to describe in terms of other prog groups.
