Yeah, no kidding. The caption said Portnoy was in the pic, and I'm thinking "where?" Speaking of Overkill, I almost took a job this week w/ Sebastian Marino who used to play guitar for them. He owns a sound company up here in Rochester. -Dan. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 9 Nov 2004 22:21:49 -0700 From: "Bryan Adams" To: Subject: A.C.T. These guys are really fun, eclectic, and definitely prog. They hail from Sweden, I believe, and have some fantastic hard-rocking music. I'd highly recommend people check them out. I really like their "Imaginary Friends" album (listen to songs "A Supposed Tour", or "Biggest Mistake" if you can.) That CD is a concept album, but I couldn't tell you what the point of it is. They have decent lyrics, a great vocalist (dead-on harmonies), nice crunchy guitars (with great solos), well-mixed, audible bass, and complicated rhythms, and the drummer is excellent. Oh, and the keyboards are complex, interesting, and well-done. Another of their albums, "Last Epic" is also theme-like and very enjoyable. I didn't think "Today's Report" was as good as their other work, but I'm glad I have it nonetheless. Message-ID: <008201c4c737$85a22020$9b00a8c0@mizz> ACT is indeed a fantastic band. They have three albums out, and I personally enjoy their first one best, entitled "today's report". at least I think that's their first one... They definitely know how to ROCK, and at times I could swear they sound like a prog theatrical performance. Sick musicians, but also fun loving as well. On a side note, hey Bryan Adams is on our list! Who'da thunk? He's a closet prog fan I see! ;) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bryan Adams" To: "Multiple recipients of list" Sent: Wednesday, November 10, 2004 12:26 AM Subject: A.C.T. > > charset="US-ASCII" > > >I'm enjoying too much Dreamscape, Superior, and a band I've never seen > discussed here, "A.C.T". > > > > > > ~Chris > > > > Let me second Chris' nomination of A.C.T. as an enjoyable band. I had heard some stuff off Wounded Land but the first album I owned was Extinct Instinct -which I really like a lot as well. But from the new "era", where Mac actually stayed as the frontman instead of the back & forth situation they had before, I enjoy Hypothetical the most.
