The film quality, sound, video images, and lighting are all top notch. The band was also at the top of their game. My only complaint is no "Honor Thy Father". That one really rocks live. I'm sure that some people out there don't agree, but that's fine. ==== "There is no worse tyranny than to force a man to pay for what he does not want merely because you think it would be good for him." -- Robert Heinlein "Civilization is the progress toward a society of privacy." -- Ayn Rand, The Fountainhead, 1943. _______________________________ Do you Yahoo!? First, I think FWX is great. I really can't understand the complaints about it, since I think this is the best album they've made since APSOG. I never really liked Disconnected that much, so I'm very happy with the sound on this new cd returning to their earlier ways. I think the songs are great, that they do go somewhere, unlike somebody else thought. Great melodies; finally we got more solos from Matheos. I still haven't read the lyrics, so I can't comment on them yet. Definitely a must have and kudos to Fates for their excellent effort. About Live at Budokan, all I can say is WOW!!!!!!! This DVD (and of course the cds) is amazing. The band is as tight as ever, they seem to be playing effortlessly and having a lot of fun. The performance is definitely the best I've seen/heard from them. The sound is great, the setlist is great, James is awesome, the camera work is top notch. Simply incredible. I also recently got The Jelly Jam 2, and it's awesome. It's even better than I expected, and I thought the first one was great. This is music more focused on the songs themselves than on virtuoso playing, and the approach really makes the result very satisfying. Still, there is great playing on the album, although the song structures are quite simple. This is how I think mainstream music could sound if played by great musicians. Rod Morgenstein is a god, making a simple 4/4 song sound extremely complex. Myung is great as well, although there's not a lot of flashy playing from him (by now we should all know that we can't expect that from him), but he's very solid and there's some fast playing spread thorughout. Ty Tabor plays great guitar and I think his singing is better than on the first one. Highly recommended album. I don't have time for any other reviews, so that's it for now.
