What Portnoy plays is NOT 100% what is heard and at times it really shows. That explains many things like sound continuity on takes that clearly are edited etc. Aris -----Original Message----- From: ytsejam@torchsong.com [mailto:ytsejam@torchsong.com] On Behalf Of Mike Shetzer Sent: Friday, September 17, 2004 3:49 AM To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: MP dvds --Boundary_(ID_o1oovlbX7y0LLDt9rA2BhA) Content-type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT I just got through watching the Drums of Thought DVD and the 6DoIT drumming DVD (whose name eludes me) which were lent to me by a friend. Anyone else own these? DoT is entertaining, good sound, good camera angles, complete songs. Wouldn't say I'd be willing to pay for it though... although I am not a drummer anyway. The other one, however, was much worse... bad camera shots, incomplete songs (some of them stop at the best parts!), and low quality hiss-like sound. I understand the 6DoIT DVD was probably recorded on a whim, probably with a low quality camera, but still... I don't see the point of the DVD if he isn't even playing the album's drum tracks, he's like rehearsing or writing. He also makes some timing errors and is not even 50% as tight a drummer as he is on the album, or on the DoT DVD. Good thing I didn't buy this one... On a lighter note, I'm looking forward to the Budokan DVD! --Boundary_(ID_o1oovlbX7y0LLDt9rA2BhA) ---YTSEJAM FILTER: Rest of message skipped because of attachment ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 6977 ************************** === Contributions to ytsejam: ytsejam@torchsong.com === === Send requests to: ytsejam-request@torchsong.com === === More information at: http://www.dreamt.org/local/ytsejam.php === === Brought by the ghost of ytsejam@arastar.coms past === === Reach the owner of this list at: ytsejam-owner@torchsong.com ===
