What can I say, great show! I'll try to avoid spoilers. DT played one (short) hour and were in top form. This is the 5th time I've seen them, and they sounded better than ever. Partially this was due to being outside (outdoors shows usually sound better IMHO), but also LaBrie was awesome. He hit every note dead on, by far the best performance I've ever heard him do (out of my live and bootleg experience). The setlist was mostly songs I wouldn't call my favorites, but the songs really worked well together. It was definitely a Yes-fan-friendly setlist, focusing on the more atmospheric and melodic songs instead of the heavy stuff. They got a a good reaction from the crowd -- afterwards I saw and heard a lot of "Wow, who were those guys?" from the crowd. Yes were great too and played a setlist with all their classic tunes. What can I say about Yes; they're legendary. Don't miss a chance to see this bill!!!! They made literally hundreds of different bootlegs, mainly rock titiles. I guess most of them were from FM radio, or similar sources. Rumor has it that when KTS went bust, they sold off their stock to a Singapore company. However, Singapore authorities have clamped down on sale of bootleg materials, especially since the free trade agreement with the USA. There are a few of these still around in Singapore. Anyway, looks like new homes have already been found for the CDs, I've agreed to sell some and also trade some others for similar silver CD bootlegs, since I had a couple spare of each title. BTW, was so hoping that DT was going to make it to Singapore this year. They have a huge following in this region, especially in Malaysia. There is a lot of interest in rock music in Malaysia. I mean, you can regularly walk into the supermarket, and in Malaysia, instead of the regular "elevator" music, you can hear Scorpions and Iron Maiden over the PA! Anyway, when I saw that DT was going to play Expo in Singapore I was so looking forward to it, because no bands ever come to Singapore these days. Def Lep and Bon Jovi came about 10 years ago and since then, thats it. So, anyone got the low down on why the DT Singapore Expo show got cancelled? Also BTW, I'm not wishing to profit from the sale of the DT bootlegs, if I do get some cash out of it, I'll probably plough it straight back into DT by completing my collection of the YTSEJAM label official bootlegs. Hope I've created an interesting thread, and hope I haven't upset anyone, I know bootlegs are a bit of a sensitive topic. Cheers, Ian. I found One particularly boring, one of the weakest tracks on the album. Still Remains is definitely up there in 9/10 or higher region :) ----- Original Message ----- From: "=?iso-8859-1?Q?Hombr=E9 Scott M." I'm used to him not being able to hit some high notes, so he uses lower ones or tries anyway, but this time he belts them out with ferocity and boy can he do it! Props to JLB! ----- Original Message ----- From: To: "Multiple recipients of list" Sent: Saturday, September 04, 2004 12:29 PM Subject: Allentown, PA Show > > --part1_42.573f8b3f.2e6b469c_boundary > Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" > > Wow! I think you're forgetting about vocalist Joe Lynn Turner who recorded with Yngwie on his "Odyssey" CD. A couple of songs on that CD even got air time on the mainstream radio stations. They put out 2 albums: self titled and All Systems Go. The vocalist on the first album was NOT Mark Slaughter but Robert Fleischman who was in Journey briefly before they found Steve Perry. He was in the Invasion just as briefly as Vinnie hired Mark Slaughter right after the first album was released and Slaughter was in the video. The rest of the lineup was Dana Strum on bass and Bobby Rock on drums. Slaughter and Strum of course formed Slaughter after the second Invasion album tanked. Rock joined NELSON...yes them. Meanwhile, the egomaniac Vincent (no wonder he and Gene didn't get along) sued Kiss and then wrote some tracks for the infantile Revenge album. I never liked Vinnie's playing (being a huge Ace fan for one). He tried to play so fast and had horrible tone and sloppy technique. That's the editorial part. Hope that was entertaining.
