Why's it hard to believe, aren't session guys supposed to be good? While he does play on some pop artists' stuff, most of his discography is a veritable who's who of the music world, mostly jazz! He also played with Zappa back in the day, so you KNOW he's awesome! Yeah I know his track record (even played on Clay Aiken's big hit song) and if I wasn't so lazy I would have looked up spelling his name before typing my silly note! I found the album via the usual 'sharing avenues'. Vinnie Coliauta (sp?) is the man. Besides being a session guy, he has toured the world with everyone from Sting to Allan Holdsworth, to Chick Corea, to Frank Zappa.  He is without a doubt one of the greatest drummers alive. He is THE drummer's drummer. If you doubt this just listen to his work on Allan Holdsworth's Secrets, or just about anything that he played on with Zappa. Not to mention his work with Sting, where he makes odd times like 9/8, or 5/4 sound so good even the average fan can clap along as if the song were in 4/4. I can't wait to hear him play some metal on this Megadeth album. I know Nick Menza is back in the touring Megadeth band, and that Vinnie is only on the album. I guess Vinnie wont make things too complicated, since Nick or just about any other drummer in the world would have problems replicating Vinnie's toughest parts. Nothing against Nick, who I like a lot, but Vinnie is just from another world.  A world where only player! s like Dave Weckl, & Buddy Rich live.

You need to do your research, Colauita is an incredible drummer, he played with Sting for years, he is one of the technical masters from the jazz world. -The Doc -- -------------- http://www.zeromemory.com - metal for your ears. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Jul 2004 15:16:39 -0700 From: Scott Hansen To: Subject: Interesting DT discovery I made last night Message-ID: I have an MP3 compilation of most of DT's tracks on CD for my car and I was listening to FII all the way thru for the first time in quite a while. As I got to the end of You Not Me (while dwelling on the whole Desmond Child debacle) I realized for the first time that the keyboard melody at the end of YNM is the same melody that JP plays at the end of the instrumental section of Raise the Knife! Check it out! That was a shocking find - not that it should surprise me that DT used the same melody again, but the fact that I don't think anyone else has ever said anything abooot it is what blows me away. Perhaps it's because YNM is a hated song by most fans and that RtK was never released on a regular studio CD (99 Xmas CD notwithstanding). Anyway, just thought I'd share! :-) Scott ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Jul 2004 17:03:06 -0700 From: "Pinkie M.
