But... bleh.. It's a bad idea to listen to 12:5 without having listened to all the other albums. Since it's acoustic, 12:5 is sort of a "softies compilation"... In any case, I would never say PoS is "soft rock". It has nothing to do with SB or Transatlantic, IMO. Just listen to OHbtCL or TPE, there's plenty of metal on those two. But of course, PoS is my favourite band, so my opinion is biased. :) - Edi ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 02 Jun 2004 22:09:43 +0300 From: cassidy To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: PoS' 12:5 Message-ID: Eduardo Ojeda wrote: > I would never say PoS is "soft rock". One of the most intense performances i've ever witnessed. Literally jaw-dropping. I'll have to make do with the few videos I've found in the sharing networks. I wish I had seen the DT-PoS tour, back in 2001 I think. I could die happily after that. But I'd have to live in the US for that :) - Edu ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 02 Jun 2004 20:28:29 -0400 From: WB Henderson To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: PoS' 12:5 Message-ID: Eduardo Ojeda wrote: >I wish I had seen the DT-PoS tour, back in 2001 I think. PoS in general is not a 'softer type of rock' at all. Not sure where you got that idea from, but they are nothing like Spocks or Transatlantic, even if Daniel did play with Trans (or maybe it was Flower Kings or both) on tour... Given that 12:5 is an acoustic live re-working of some of their songs, I'm not sure how good of an introduction to the band it is... I think Remedy Lane would be a better start. Personally, I love 12:5, but I've been a huge PoS fan ever since I heard Concrete Lake. ~Chris ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Jun 2004 19:25:48 +1000 From: "Niall Connaughton" To: Subject: RE: PoS' 12:5 Message-ID: Better than "they sucked and I took great pictures" :P > -----Original Message----- > From: ytsejam@torchsong.com [mailto:ytsejam@torchsong.com]On Behalf Of > Rick Audet > Sent: Thursday, 3 June 2004 12:01 PM > To: Multiple recipients of list > Subject: Re: PoS' 12:5 > > > They rocked, and I took horrible pictures. > > http://electricrain.com/spine/photos/progpower3.0_15-17nov2002/day > 1_band5_pain_of_salvation/ > > > Rick Audet > San Francisco ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Jun 2004 19:35:04 +1000 From: "Niall Connaughton" To: Subject: RE: PoS 12:5 Message-ID: Daniel did indeed play with both TA and TFK. He's on the TA DVD and I think on a TFK DVD as well. I also read that he's now joined TFK as long as it doesn't conflict with PoS. On another note, anyone know the brand name of the guitar you can see Daniel playing in Rick's photos? He plays the same on the TA DVD. I put those guitars and JP's Music Men into the category of "Why do such great players have such bland looking guitars" :P Niall > -----Original Message----- > From: ytsejam@torchsong.com [mailto:ytsejam@torchsong.com]On Behalf Of > Christopher Oates > Sent: Thursday, 3 June 2004 5:49 PM > To: Multiple recipients of list > Subject: Re:PoS 12:5 > > > > I actually had an open mind with Pain of Salvation. They have only played ProgPowers in the US. Still, If I lived in the US I would make the trip to the next PP where they play. And my soul would finally get some rest. :) If I ever go to Europe, I'll make sure I drop by Eskilstuna (or whatever). I hear Daniel teaches music there. - Edu ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Jun 2004 07:26:56 -0500 From: "Souter, Jan-Michael" To: "'ytsejam@torchsong.com'" Subject: RE: PoS 12:5 Message-ID: I already have their previous CDs.
