This alone makes me leery of buying this album, since Ashes is one of my favorite songs of theirs. I'm getting kind of scared by some of the reviews... ..and feeling a need to go play some PoS :) Alex ==== - I believe in a world that can take you high in a place where visions can prevail - __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Your mileage may vary. Speaking of live albums, Queensrche is putting out another one next month, 2 years and 1 studio album after the last one. It's a combo DVD/CD release, with the tracklistings nearly identical save the swapping of two Dream Theater co-cover tunes, "Won't Get Fooled Again" and "Comfortably Numb", on the DVD for "Anybody Listening?" on the CD. Apparently the DVD was shot in black and white, no doubt for some artistic reason I can't fathom. http://www.queensryche.com/releases/art-of-live-dvd/index.html http://www.queensryche.com/releases/art-of-live/index.html Brian [NP...Paradise Lost - Shades of God] ============================================= WB Henderson email_address_removed ============================================= ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 May 2004 19:10:40 -0400 (EDT) From: Sarah Hallum To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: Re: PoS' 12:5 Message-ID: On Thu, 27 May 2004, WB Henderson wrote: > Alexandra O'Connell wrote: > > >This alone makes me leery of buying this album, since > >Ashes is one of my favorite songs of theirs. The CD version, though, doesn't come out until 06/08/04 (US date). So how's the DVD? Heck, I got my copy signed at the in-store > performance at Vintage Vinyl. The DVD has been out for a while, yes...the CD is coming soon. Regarding the black and white (which is more of a sepia tone), I think the "artistic" reason is closer to not being pleased with the way the color on the video came out. Two possible reasons...one, this really wasn't professionally recorded video material (it's certainly decent, but just not high-dollar decent) and two, they used cuts from multiple shows where the lighting might vary from cut to cut. So I think it was more to give a uniform look throughout, and to conceal the fact that they didn't have a huge mobile video production company following them around on tour. I think it came out really nice, though. The covers encores are alone picking up the DVD. - Chris ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 May 2004 20:50:48 -0400 (EDT) From: Sarah Hallum To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: Re: PoS' 12:5 Message-ID: On Thu, 27 May 2004, WB Henderson wrote: > Sarah Hallum wrote: > > >It's been out for awhile. I haven't watched the dvd yet... we appear to collect them rather than, you know, watch them and stuff.
