I'm very glad about the fact that very few of the songs are "classics" that we already have in other live and video releases. One band whose live albums repeat a lot of the songs is Iron Maiden, and I've always wondered why they keep releasing the same songs live over and over again (I know there's different songs, but they play pretty much the same classics in all their live albums). I would feel cheated if many of the songs were repeated in the new DT DVD, so I'm very happy that's not the case. Somebody said they recently went to an Anthrax show and that it kicked major ass. I agree completely. I saw them last Halloween here in Puerto Rico, and the show was amazing. The setlist was perfect, and the energy of both the band and the audience was incredible. I recently got the cd-dvd called Aina - The Metal Opera, and it's freakin awesome. Great music, great vocalists, great songs. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that the DVD, in addition to having all the videos and pictures and all those things, has the whole two cds mixed in surround sound!!! It does not play continuously (you have to play each song individually), but it's great to be able to read the lyrics on-screen while listening to the music. If you have the cd-dvd and don't know where you can see-hear what I'm talking about, you just have to go to where it says lyrics (under Artwork), and choose whichever songs you want. I recently got the new live album by Ohm (a live performance for a radio station) and it's incredible. I think this has become my favorite fusion band. Chris Poland's combination of chops and feeling is jawdropping. Talking about Chris Poland, I heard that he's playing in the upcoming album by Megadeth!!!!! When my friend told me, I couldn't even believe Megadeth was back. He told me Vinnie Colaiuta (sp?) is playing the drums!!! I don't know who's playing bass. Could somebody give out the full information regarding these incredible news????? Please!!!!!!!!!!! Alright, enough rambling. Alexis __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Please!!!!!!!!!!! what the f*%@!!!!!! that would mean that megadeth is using top-notch jazz/fusion session players. be interesting to see whether or not they're playing the whole album, or just a coupld of songs. of all the metal & rock-oriented players that i'm sure they could've chosen from, it surprises the hell out of me that guys like poland & colaiuta would be chosen (if they actually were chosen at all) to play on a megadeth album. i'll believe it when i see it, especially the bit about colaiuta... -- Best Regards, Independent Computer Consultant, Eric George -Tech Guru's "The least important things in life get the most appreciation. Well, you never know what kinda of goodies may be included on the LiT/5YiaL DVD - if you look on the MP.FAQ, you'll see that Mike had to cut A LOT of stuff that he intended on being on 5YiaL since he was told it couldn't be anymore than 120 minutes - perhaps Metropolis and several other tracks that you mention will be included as bonus stuff... http://www.mikeportnoy.com/about/mpfaq/showquestion.asp?menu=about&faq=1&fld Auto=248 Scott ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 May 2004 00:59:39 +1000 From: "Niall Connaughton" To: Subject: RE: new DVD setlist Message-ID: Extras on the 5YIALT DVD = w00t. I would be happy to have exactly the same as both videos on DVD, cos I don't know where my videos are and they're getting pretty dodgy now. Plus it'd be cool just to be able to jump to the different songs. And now I can record "she said 'Well, I don't really like Dream Theater very much, but I had a pen, so what the fuck'" and use it in all kinds of amusing situations :P Niall > -----Original Message----- > From: ytsejam@torchsong.com [mailto:ytsejam@torchsong.com]On Behalf Of > Scott Hansen > Sent: Saturday, 1 May 2004 1:11 PM > To: Multiple recipients of list > Subject: RE: new DVD setlist > > Well, you never know what kinda of goodies may be included on the > LiT/5YiaL DVD - if you look on the MP.FAQ, you'll see that Mike had to cut A LOT of ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 01 May 2004 11:09:01 -0400 From: Craig Maloney To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: RE: new DVD setlist Message-ID: <1083424141.6654.0.camel@localhost> On Fri, 2004-04-30 at 07:02, Niall Connaughton wrote: > Yeah, you're right.
