Sound quality is a B, I'd say. Not great, but more than listenable. Plus, they're probably going to release a soundboard of one of these shows at Ytsejam Records, so this can serve as a teaser. I'm just noticing this thread now and feel a need to respond! Just kicking back after getting high and playing the new Ninja Gaiden, and checking out the 'Jam! I'm from the pre-Awake jam as well! (Or really, right after it came out). I always signed my e-mails Dr. Teeth and usually prefer the "extreme" perspective on Prog-Metal (I.E. Opeth, Watchtower, Tristania, etc...) Hey, here's a few funny old memories... * Bafu and friends posting just so they get credit for Ytsejam #2000, and future "landmark" 'Jams. * How Arash Ashouriha(sp?) would bombard us with e-mails telling us how cool Empty Tremor was! (I'll give them an "eh..." at best) * And of course, the Mike Bahr scandal(s)... (Hey, I still enjoy my Subconscious every once and a while!) Well, it's good to know the old-timers tickers are still ticking... Then again, FW just being invited to participate in a progressive metal show of that magnitude was fine and dandy enough... Some B&B bands are hit or miss, but musically Tristania are progressive/goth and would appeal to anyone who dares venture to the dark side every once and a while. All Tristania albums are great, but start with World of Glass. (FYI, I HATE most death metal bands, for their lack of melody/talent/songwriting) The Goth Metal bands (or Doom) luckily have their shit together and can pull off some amazing sounds, and often their growler fits in quite nicely. Other recommendations are (in order) Within Temptation, After Forever, Dark Tranquillity, The Sins of Thy Beloved, and Theatre of Tragedy (first two albums). Hope you like! - Dr. Teeth (making a comeback?) --- Mike Shetzer wrote: > > --Boundary_(ID_+sh4pBUfucDgQxfqTT5w/w) > Content-type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 > Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT > > I remember some Dr Teeth posts :) > > Question, opeth rocks and Watchtower has one of my fave guitarists, but I > haven't heard of Tristania... elaborate? > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Dave Peterson > To: Multiple recipients of list > Sent: Saturday, April 24, 2004 2:56 PM > Subject: RE: good ole days > > > Hey guys!
