I'm doing a radio program and next week it will be dedicated to this CD. I'd like the selection to be as representative as possible for the hole disc. The problem is that I have to select music for about 30-35 minutes because the show total length is about an hour. The rest of the time we explain, analize, discuss, ... the cd. Thank you very much for your help. Narc=EDs. ___________________________________________________________________________ _____________ Este mensaje ha sido analizado y protegido por la tecnologia antivirus www.trendmicro.es ---YTSEJAM FILTER: Rest of message skipped because of attachment ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 21 Feb 2004 07:49:04 -0600 From: Michael & Pamela Nazer To: Subject: Re: SFAM song selection Message-ID: on 2/21/04 6:14 AM, Narcms Calvet at email_address_removed.es wrote: > > > > Hi all, > > I need your help to select songs from Metropolis part 2: Scenes From a > Memory. > > I'm doing a radio program and next week it will be dedicated to this CD. > I'd like the selection to be as representative as possible for the hole > disc. You could cut Strange Deja Vu after "I'm not the one the sleeper thought he knew", going to some discussion of the opening of the album and the story that's being set up. You could then go into Fatal Tragedy to tell a bit more about what happened that fateful night. If you're rushed for time, I guess you could fade it at the beginning of the instrumental break. Then you could do an introduction to Home and what's going on in the song over the top of the opening, time tbe end of the commentary just right as the wah-wah kicks in :P That might be cool because it's so quiet at the beginning that it will slowly creep in behind the commentary and leave people wondering what's going on for a bit. You've got almost 2 minutes for an intro there. Once again, if you're pushed for time, you could fade out after the last of the vocals. Then you can get a bit of commentary in about TSCO, the choir, etc, maybe mention Teresa Thomson, cos there's no room in the setlist for Through Her Eyes, etc. If you need more time, you could do some commentary over the beginning and bring it in with MP's little drum fill before "I used to be frightened of dying..." Then with Finally Free, you can let the Hypnotherapist do your introduction, then come in over the top and talk about what the song means, thank your parents, etc. If you can swing the full 10 minutes remaining, bring the song back in with Jordan's quiet little piano bit just before the lyrics, and let it run to the end. It would be cool to let it end with the static, no more commentary, just let that hang :P If you don't have enough time, fade it out just before you get the sound effects, I guess. Anyway, just my ideas. I'm sure with some creative editing, fading, etc, you could work it all out. You may need to do something like skip overture, I guess, if you really need a few more minutes, but I reckon letting those three go at the beginning is a good opening. Let us know what you come up with! I'm -very- tired of rap and hip/hop....but saying that The Darkness is not part of that "money machine" is just plain silly. They are getting pushed by labels and airplay consultants like there's no tomorrow. > Now > Darkness, dont know much about them, but they played a couple of songs, > and first thing that came to mind, is that maybe good old guitar/vocals > rock might be on it's way back, and I hope so. Darkness is no where > near prog. but sounded good anyway. Their "throwback to the 80s" sound is kinda interesting, but time will tell whether their current (targeted, planned) success is a harbinger of true musical change....or viewed as simply a novelty, to be discarded as being silly. If people get more interested in old-school rock and metal thanks to them, then cool. But when I first heard them, I thought "this is going to set the metal and hard rock world back twenty years." --And not in a good way, but in a "this is trite and silly, rock and metal still can't be taken seriously!" way. Ironically, the subject above is a Killswitch Engage song-title...and a comment on the rock music world today. Both bands may be playing Ozzfest this year. (!) -- +--- Paul W. They're not bad, but, at least in the live clips I saw, it sounded like they need another cat to strangle in front of the microphone ;P Niall > -----Original Message----- > From: ytsejam@torchsong.com [mailto:ytsejam@torchsong.com]On Behalf Of > Pierre Tessier > Sent: Saturday, 21 February 2004 3:42 AM > To: Multiple recipients of list > Subject: Got my tickets > > Hey change of pace, caught the brit awards last night, a band called > Darkness won best album (or something). I actually emailed the band before they came to Montreal a few months ago and promptly got a response from drummer Mick. Don't expect them to solve it for you (as I don't think they are that affiliated with the club), but maybe mention to them your discontent. ----- Original Message ----- From: Rob P To: Multiple recipients of list Sent: Saturday, February 21, 2004 9:49 PM Subject: Arena Fan Club I sent in my cash in December to the Arena "the Cage" Fan Club and have not received anything.
