First of all, it is official artwork, for anybody who thinks it might be fake. Portnoy authenticated it a couple days ago on his forum. Secondly, yes it really is black and white. How do I know that? Well, it's a direct copy of part of one of Jerry Uelsmann's photography projects. It's the first time DT hasn't used original artwork, but since I'm such a fan of Uelsmann's artwork, I don't have a problem with it. Besides, it does look pretty damn cool anyway. :) Ah, found the link. Here's the actual artwork: http://www.uelsmann.com/gallery/gal2/pages/gal2-03.htm By the way, for anybody who's never heard of Jerry Uelsmann... he's a master of the darkroom. He could Photoshop stuff before there WAS a "Photoshop". And granted, some people could now do what he did in hours, but it took him days to get to what he wanted to do. He still works by hand, rather than using a computer, too. Says something like old-dog-new- tricks and all that. Heh. If you've ever seen the new version of The Outer Limits on SciFi, his artwork is ALL OVER the opening sequences. ------------------------------------------------- Andrew Coutermarsh - http://www.acvox.com/ Email Address: andrew at acvox dot com ------------------------------------------------- If Helen Keller were psychic, would we say that she had a fourth sense? ------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2003 07:33:36 -0400 From: "Rob P" To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: album cover Message-ID: How old is that particular piece? I see a Residents theme in the book so I wonder if the artwork preceeds them or not. I think it was wise for DT to only use the road and not the book for that very reason. Very cool though. >From: Andrew Coutermarsh >Reply-To: ytsejam@torchsong.com >To: Multiple recipients of list >Subject: Re: album cover >Date: Thu, 25 Sep 2003 19:37:37 -0700 (PDT) > >On Thu, 25 Sep 2003, Partha Mukhopadhyay wrote: > > > > They put up the new album cover and boy does it look > > > Opeth to me.
