First, about the Ytsejam dying thing. It won't happen unless we all decide to make it happen. I do believe that a community that communicates is stronger than one that doesn't. So while I do have some concern about the list, I don't think it will die. Edu said: >Hmm, that would be really interesting. I expect to hear poly-rhythmic stuff on drums, the amazing keys of Jordan (keys like his are not what I would call "classic-metal") and Myung's fleet fingers working just as fast as they ever have been. Of course there is Petrucci. In my mind it will be JP that will dictate how "classic metal" this album will be, if at all. I say that because "CM" is all about guitar. Metropolis pt. 3??? What is left to say? I think they ended that storyline. I do hope to hear something as well conceived and executed again from DT. Hopefully I'm mistaken.... > > Take care, > Mark You are not mistaken. Opeth will not be joining PT for the first few dates in the south. For the rest of the dates, as far as we know and have been told directly, there is no definitive "opener"... and thus far no set schedule as to whom will "open" for whom. They will be switching around on a per gig/city basis and again, neither band is theoretically "The Headliner", so the set length should be nearly identical. ~L -- ::::Lisa Marie Palma:::: :::::email_address_removed::::: ---YTSEJAM-FILTER: This message was posted using the YML command ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Jun 2003 12:46:12 -0700 From: "TREVOR HOIT" To: Subject: yngwie Message-ID: <000001c332be$3b6a40a0$message_id_removed> >I remember gathering other instrumental guitarist albums such as Tony MacAlpine and that one with the neon shark on the cover... can't remember his name... I like his new CD. Yngwie pulls some cool stuff, and Derek's stuff in general is pretty weirdly cool to begin with :) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 14 Jun 2003 21:27:48 -0700 From: Scott Hansen To: Subject: Re: YTSEJAM digest 6566 Message-ID: In a mind-blowing e-mail sent on the extremely historic date of 6/14/03 1:48 AM, ytsejam@torchsong.com thusly spaketh: > From: Peter Geerts > I have to say that generally and think there's a lot more BS on both > the DT and MP forums than there ever was here (and I've been around > since 1997) and I concur with Jan-Michael in that when there is some > more DT news again, we'll be back on track. I think it's quite obvious there is, but at least in the case of MP.com, it's allowed. Stupid threads like "What are you wearing?" and the latest bits of news to come out of the press end up on MP.com which for the most part would never be here. Part of it is the nature of the Forum, and part of it is simply because it was never accepted here. Since I'm still in list mode (as I know lots of people used to be back in the day) there would have been a lot of crap to have to sort thru had all the excess threads as those above been allowed. With a Forum, you can ignore whatever threads least interest you (and for me, also skip over the threads where there's no replies). > From: Mike Shetzer > Metropolis 3? I didn't think of that. Now my blood is burning waiting to > hear what they're coming up with :) If there's any sequels, I'm sure it would be a Glass Prison part 2, 3, whatever. I say this since MP has stated that the 3 parts in GP are the first 3 steps in AA's 12 step program and some fans have asked in the past if he'd consider doing "sequel" songs for the rest of the steps - he said that he might consider it. So whether it happens or not is anybody's guess, but I highly doubt they'd do a part 3 of Metropolis. How the heck can you top SFaM? Do a double studio CD? Not likely.
