For some reason, I had never been interested in getting it before, but, thanks to theendrecords.com having it on sale for less than $10, I decided to get it. Well I'm very glad I did. The music is similar to Platypus, except there are no keyboards. But the music in this album seems to me to be more alive, more engaging than Platypus (which I also happen to like). Rod Morgenstein goes crazy on this album. He's the highlight of the album. Myung doesn't play many flashy parts, as usual; for the most part he's the usual solid rhythm guy. The songs are quite catchy and the guitar playing and singing are very good. If you haven't gotten this album and are curious about it, check out to see if it's still on sale at The End Records. I have another recommendation for you guys. Yesterday was the release date for the debut album by the band Bayanga, a puertorrican band made up of 11 musicians that mix A LOT of different rhythms in their very unique music. They call their music "rumba skanking", and I would describe it as a fusion of ska, reggae, batucada, salsa, rumba, jazz, etc. Check out some of their songs somewhere on the net to see if you might be interested. Their website is www.bayanga.com The lyrics are all in Spanish, and the musicianship is top notch. Check them out. By the way, their album is currently on sale at cduniverse.com, where they have it for $9 something. ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 6550 ************************** === Contributions to ytsejam: ytsejam@torchsong.com === === Send requests to: ytsejam-request@torchsong.com === === More information at: http://www.dreamt.org/local/ytsejam.php === === Brought by the ghost of ytsejam@arastar.coms past === === Reach the owner of this list at: ytsejam-owner@torchsong.com ===
