I can only know when I myself am singing falsetto, I sort of can't tell when others are :) The best example is LaBrie on the humming part of Speak To Me... ----- Original Message ----- From: Dan Costello To: Multiple recipients of list Sent: Tuesday, May 13, 2003 8:27 PM Subject: Falsetto When I think of Falsetto, I think of the BeeGees, the Beach Boys, and certain 50's tune such as "My Little Runaway" and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". Actually, no, you're right about the falsetto. And going back to what I said earlier, think about the amount of air support that the BeeGees are giving to those high notes. They're obviously quite relaxed notes, obviously evidence that the notes are sung with very little subglottal pressure. Thus, the light tone that you're hearing is indeed falsetto. ------------------------------------------------- Andrew Coutermarsh - http://www.acvox.com/ Email Address: andrew at acvox dot com ------------------------------------------------- "Never trust a spiritual leader who can't dance." - Mr. Miyagi ------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 May 2003 11:27:21 +1000 From: Niall Connaughton To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: RE: Falsetto Message-ID: I also think of "that" part in Bohemian Rhapsody :P Niall > -----Original Message----- > From: ytsejam@torchsong.com [mailto:ytsejam@torchsong.com]On Behalf Of > Dan Costello > Sent: Wednesday, 14 May 2003 10:28 AM > To: Multiple recipients of list > Subject: Falsetto > > > When I think of Falsetto, I think of the BeeGees, the Beach Boys, and > certain 50's tune such as "My Little Runaway" and "The Lion > Sleeps Tonight". > > Is my perception of falsetto correct, or do those songs/groups > just employ a > very high head voice? > > -Dan. > > > > ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 May 2003 22:40:32 -0400 From: "Alexis, Axel, Tony" To: Subject: vocal stuff Message-ID: <002801c319c2$3337ca70$0301a8c0@Tony> Thanks Andrew. That was very interesting. And talking about great vocalists, am I the only one who thinks the three finalists in American Idol can all sing extremely well? And that kid Clay has one hell of a voice. Wow. I keep calling to vote for him but the damn phone is busy all the time. I think the final two will be Clay and Ruben, although Kimberly sings great too. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 May 2003 00:56:32 -0400 From: Damon Fibraio To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: Falsetto Message-ID: --Boundary_(ID_Ip9cadA+HreF8A7gciqhXg) Content-type: text/plain; x-avg-checked=avg-ok-31141D4F; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT You forgot Frankie Vallie and the 4 seasons for classic flasetto.
