I haven't listened to Fates Warning or Cromakey. Having said that, I'm dissapointed with OSI. It wasn't what I was expecting at all. The only tracks I dig are shutDOWN and the opening track. This disc makes me mourn Transatlantic even more(I wasn't expecting OSI to sound like Transatlantic, I just love Portnoy side projects and if OSI were to release another disc, I won't get it). Pardon me for being ignorant(ducks as the flames begin). ==== Rob Denni EUSA Band PSC 303, Box 6 APO, AP 96204-0006 Go visit my website! http://home.talkcity.com/HeadbangersHwy/funkygroove/ __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Many Dream Theater fans did not care for Kevin's solo work after Dream Theater, myself included. And then again many do like that style. To each their own. For some reason, I liked OSI from the first listen. It's growing more on me each spin. Maybe in the future you will listen to the CD again and like it.. Music is funny like that.. I will agree that as an album, Disconnected blows.. However, as a stand alone song, "Still Remains" kicks ass! APSOG, is, without a doubt, progressive metal at it's best; Even the live version is killer. IMHO, the studio version of "The Ivory Gate of Dreams" from "No Exit" is one of the best progressive metal songs EVER written! It's hard to go wrong with ANY Fates album. Disconnected needs to be in everyone's Fates collection.. Just like DT's FII, it's a little reminder that even the best can produce steaming piles. I am not crazy about Disconnected, but the only two songs of the 5 (i don't count the first and last tracks, Disconnected Pt.1 & 2) that i don't really like are "So" & "Pieces Of Me". i think "Still Remains" & "Something From Nothing" are great, with "One" not being too shabby either. does it hold up to it's predecessor, APSOG??? no, but those songs are still decent on their own. they just surrounded them with a bunch of noise & crappy compositions that take away from the 3 decent songs on the disc. but the half-hour of music that is good holds it's own i think. -eric -- "The least important things in life get the most appreciation. Yeah Dave, I agree with you. But if you listen the first music in this album, you can feel and remember a lot of pieces from FW in the old albums, just like you said above. I like the "Disconnected" album. I can compare the WTDADU and 6DOIT albums from Dream Theater. The first is pure rock metal with a pieces of progressive and the last is pure progressive.
