I initially ascribed the throat to yelling and screaming along and to way tooo much cigarette smoke in the venue, but it seems it goes a bit deeper than that.... It's a small price to pay for a terrific weekend. The next step is to get Glenn the keys to the weather-control machine. :) (Still didn't rain as much as in Chicago, though....whew!) -- +--- Paul W. MANY great prog > artists released fabulous albums, among a few: I agree that 2002 has been a FANTASTIC year for new prog releases. I don't know where to start! I'll mention all of 'em, but there is still a month and a half to go. 1. Spock's Beard - Snow 2. Kaipa - Notes From The Past 3. Echolyn - Mei 4. Threshold - Critical Mass 5. Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence 6. Symphony X - The Odyssey 7. Vanden Plas - Beyond Daylight 8. Porcupine Tree - In Absentia 9. Joe Satriani - Strange Beautiful Music 10. Superior - Ultima Ratio 11. Enchant - Blink Of An Eye 12. The Flower Kings - Live In New York: Official Bootleg 13. The Flower Kings - Unfold The Future 14. Glass Hammer - Lex Rex 15. Magellan - Hundred Year Flood 16. Pineapple Thief - 137 17. Pain Of Salvation - Remedy Lane 18. Karmakanic - Entering The Spectra 19. Star One - Space Metal 20. Tomas Bodin - Pinup Guru 21. The Jelly Jam - The Jelly Jam 22. Ryo Okumoto - Coming Through 23. Brett Kull - Orange-ish Blue 24. Explorers Club - Raising The Mammoth 25. Ty Tabor - Safety 26. Silverchair - Diorama I know a couple of these CD's aren't strictly prog or prog-metal (especially Satriani and Silverchair), but what the heck...it's my list. I'd also say that most of the CD's below the #10 ranking really need more listens to fully judge them. There has been a slew of new releases lately (SB, Threshold, SX, PT, TFK, GH, Karmakanic, Bodin, and Okumoto) and I haven't really had a chance to fully evaluate all of them yet. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Nov 2002 19:34:24 -0500 From: Mike Shetzer To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: Favorite Albums of 2002 Message-ID: <002501c28f63$691f2be0$9b00a8c0@SHETZ> > 12. If anyone has been going on the YtsejamDC and sharing stuff... you should share your local homemade tracks if you have any. This way we can spread ourselves as well as our influences! Come the 25th (new billing cycle starts then, fuck i hate my ISP), I'll be sharing some of my stuff too hopefully. Well, I'm not part of this group, but I can certainly share what I've got: http://www.acvox.com/files/untitled.mp3 - a song I wrote about eight years ago... Very Pink Floyd-ish, but mostly because of the guy playing the guitar and not me. I was on keyboards and piano, he was on guitar, and the drums are from a machine. http://www.acvox.com/files/WFS_Full.mp3 - Wait For Sleep, sung by yours truly http://www.acvox.com/files/silentman.mp3 - Pretty self-evident, with me on vocals and guitar, but it's only the first half of the song because that's all I can play from it. ;) There's also http://www.acvox.com/recital/ which is my undergraduate senior recital, but I had to take those MP3s down temporarily until I can find the space for them (my webserver ran out of quota space on it, so I need to utilize their storage directories, but I'm not sure how to do that yet) Other than that, the only stuff of mine that's original is on my music page on my website... With a brand new domain and everything. :) ------------------------------------------------- Andrew Coutermarsh - http://www.acvox.com/ email_address_removed ------------------------------------------------- "I love California. That was Metallica at the SECC in Glasgow on 27th October 1992, on the black album tour. I'd just moved down from the back of beyond to the big city to start university, and at the time Metallica were my favourite band, so it was certainly a great way to start my education. :-) Of course six months later I had discovered Dream Theater and saw them live at the miniscule Cathouse club, which was the start of a whole new journey for me, but that first Metallica show has a special place in my heart. :-) Here's to another 10 years of great music, I hope! -- Graham Borland email_address_removed ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Nov 2002 12:02:29 -0500 From: "Rick Rosinski" To: Subject: Re: Favorite Albums of 2002 Message-ID: <050301c28fed$71df83d0$6401a8c0@amd1> > >12. This CD is absolutely better than any other "bootleg" I've heard, and is equivalent to a regular live CD. Here is a quote direct from www.theflowerkings.com concerning the CD: "The CD was recorded at New York's Bottom Line club and is a mixture of an audience recording and a soundboard recording. These two recordings have been mixed by Roine and are, in his own words; 'slightly more professional than the audience recordings that circulate.' The recording was taken from the 'late' set of the bands two performances on 14th April 2002 and features the set highlight, a 50 minute rendition of 'Garden Of Dreams'." ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 6378 ************************** === Contributions to ytsejam: ytsejam@torchsong.com === === Send requests to: ytsejam-request@torchsong.com === === Brought by the ghost of ytsejam@arastar.coms past === === Reach the owner of this list at: ytsejam-owner@torchsong.com ===
