As Rich Ward put it: > >Phish sucks, Jerry's Dead, Get a Job. > >I hate "stoner hippie rock", almost as much as rap and country. > You are my new best friend... I'll second that motion. Phish sucks so bad. Don't even get me started on the Grateful Dead. No one wants to hear one chord 42 minute jams. And the majority of the people who go to their shows are what I call "HIPPIE-CRITES" (as in hypocrites) because being a hippie was a movement in political and somewhat musical history. But these people who go to their shows all dress the same and act the same and go totally against the idea of individuality. And most of these people are so closed-minded and come from rich backgrounds and have no real dose of reality at all. They're 40 years too late and are trying to look for something to grab on to in life so they go on Phish tour (pick a better band please) and claim to be so peaceful and open minded but in reality they become anything but that. They WISH that the country could be going through some rough times again like CIVIL RIGHTS or VIETNAM, just so they feel like they can have some sort of purpose. Nowadays we have to deal with the arrogant extremist Bush Administration fundamentals...but it's no reason to become a hippie! And I have no problem with drugs...and drugs shouldn't even be brought into it. Drugs didn't make them stupid. They were stupid in the first place. And I'm sure there are a few Phish fans on them jam who are gonna get on my case. But sometimes you have to realize that there are so many people in this world who try to be individuals that they end up 'becoming' what in many minds is a sterotype. So I do not mean to sound judgmental or stereotypical. And jam rock isn't the road to go down. If you wanna listen to some good shit to get stoned to, pick up some Miles Davis or John Coltrane or Charles Mingus as far as instrumental music goes and STICK YOUR PHISH CD WHERE IT BELONGS - IN YOUR MICROAVE! ~Chris "She's only seventeen - Daddy says she's too young but she's old enough for me." - Winger _________________________________________________________________ Broadband? And here I am thinking that there are lots of different types of music out there because there are lots of people with wildly different tastes. Silly me. IMHO, Phish in particular are amazing musicians, and they are worthy of their success. About the "stoner hippie" fans: do you think your dislike of Phish and the Dead stems from their fans as opposed to their music? From that point of view, could you see how people- i.e. those who aren't Ytsejammers, Shredis, Musos, Prog-pundits, etc. - dislike Dream Theater just because of US? Think about it.
