Ha ha! You figured it out. Big "crime" pays off. Big corporate executives rip off the company/shareholders for $100 million, and their penalty is $1 million (if any). That's some punishment. BTW, rumor is that the maximum payout for an individual CD consumer in California will be $20... __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I haven't seen it on any news sites. If it is true, then $20 a person is ridiculous. Is that, what, one dollar back for every CD you bought, up to twenty? As much as free money is nice (and hey, twenty bucks is twenty bucks), that's just the record companies thumbing their noses at us. ------------------------------------------------- Andrew Coutermarsh - http://cout.dhs.org/ email_address_removed ------------------------------------------------- "Never trust a spiritual leader who can't dance." - Mr. Miyagi ------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Oct 2002 13:28:23 -0400 (EDT) From: email_address_removed (Steve Chew) To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: Show at Monpellier changed to Paris Message-ID: Seeing Dream Theater play in person: Priceless. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stephen Gervois" > Greetings Jamoids, > > OK so I ranted a couple of days ago on the cancelling of the Montpellier > show. > I said that I will not be able to see them this year what with ticket prices > ect... at the last minute. > Well I cracked, I have to see them it's a drug. > I'm not going to let DT's management keep me from seeing DT. > > /*** Rant ONLINE **/ > So : > 323 euros plane ticket (near last minute flight for Air France with > reduction !!) > 34 euros concert ticket. > 45 euros cheep Paris hotel for the night > This equals 402 euros (the same in dollars). > > At Montpellier it would have cost me : > 29 euros concert ticket. > ~15 euros gas for the car > No hotel. > equals 44 euros. > > I'm paying 9 times more and will be eating dry speghetti for the next 3 > months but what the fuck I love DT. > /*** Rant OFFLINE **/ > > See ye > A carbon based life-form. > "When you see what we have done to the world, we should cry at the birth of > a man and rejoice at his death" > > ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 02 Oct 2002 10:44:05 -0700 From: Jax To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: free money for you Message-ID: At 10:32 AM 10/2/02, Cloak wrote: >Where exactly did you get this story from, anyway? Enlightenment. Thanks Glenn & Jax :) As you may have guessed, I haven't taken a look over at the PP "schedule" in quite some time; I just new that was the same weekend. >Can you see the beauty of tour booking yet ;) Mm, so far it hasn't changed my life in radical ways, but I'm sure BG are happy about it, hehe. There's a band called Ra, a band from Haverhill, Massachusetts that just got signed to Universal/Republic Records. Their single, "Do You Call My Name," has some passages that sound very much like 'Awake' era Dream Theater (namely like "The Mirror"). If you want to hear the song for yourself, go to: http://www.raband.net/mp3s/doyoucallmyname.mp3 It's curious that DT-influenced bands are now getting airplay while DT doesn't anymore...
