I must say that, this being my first DT show since I got into them 4-5 years ago, that they kick ass live. =) Warning to any of you seeing a show in the future.... POSSIBLE SPOILERS POSSIBLE SPOILERS POSSIBLE SPOILERS POSSIBLE SPOILERS POSSIBLE SPOILERS POSSIBLE SPOILERS POSSIBLE SPOILERS ...... ...... I never heard much of King's X before the show, and I thought they put on a nice show. They started at 7 pm on the nose, no lateness, which was a plus. After about 30 minutes, they gave way to Satch. I noticed that most KX songs have the same sound to them. Like they all have the same sort of rockish / downtuned dropped D sort of sound to them. Satch played an interesting 90 minute set. If the set is the same all through the tour, maybe someone can tell me what song he played first? It starts with acoustic guitar... that was my favorite song by him. The rest of the songs were cool but he wasn't really my style I guess. I was expecting people to leave after Satch, which is what I've read on the 'jam, but only maybe a dozen out of 2000 or so left. After Satch, they wheeled in a gigantic piece of equipment draped in a black tarp that could only have been Portnoy's set. After about 30 minutes and 8 technicians later, they unveiled the drumset and the big guns (that is, DT) came out. I must say, James was ON that night. Even in the Great Debate, he barely faltered in the high notes I expected him not to be able to make. The setlist I believe went something like this: Pull Me Under, 6:00, Strange Deja Vu, War Inside My Head / Test That Stumped them All, Peruvian Skies, Great Debate, Medley, Spirit Carries On, TTT. The highlight of the night was definitely the gaping wide audience mouths watching the multi instrumental medley. It was enthralling to witness Universal Mind, Erotomania, Paradigm, Hell's Kitchen, ACoS, Dance Of Eternity, Metropolis Part I, Ytsejam, etc... all melded into one brilliantly done instrumental madness. If ANYONE has an mp3 of that medley in any quality from any show, I'd like to have it. =) All in all... a pleasant experience if I do say so myself. If you haven't seen them, SEE THEM! m.S --Boundary_(ID_K9Kco/rg4nceCN5bZApkYg) ---YTSEJAM FILTER: Rest of message skipped because of attachment ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 03 Sep 2002 08:37:39 -0400 From: "Costello, Daniel J" To: "'ytsejam@torchsong.com'" Subject: RE: Dinosaur BBQ Message-ID: >Which Dinosaur did you see the DT shirt at? Syracuse >or the one in Rochester? Tons of DT fans up in >Rochester, just gotta look for them (ha ha). It was at the big Dinosaur tent at the State Fair in Syracuse, right next to Cole Muffler Court. >For those of you unfamiliar, Dinosaur has one mean-ass BBQ. Yeah they do. Ever try Brooks? They're from Oneonta and are popular out towards Utica & Cooperstown. If you're ever visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame, ya gotta try their bbq. :-) -Dan. ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 6305 ************************** === Contributions to ytsejam: ytsejam@torchsong.com === === Send requests to: ytsejam-request@torchsong.com === === Brought by the ghost of ytsejam@arastar.coms past === === Reach the owner of this list at: ytsejam-owner@torchsong.com ===
