I spawned enough subject for 1/3 of a 'jam! I rule! Not sure what Glenn's seperation has to do with my marriage to a fellow ytsejammer (and I know I'm not the only one)... but Kevin remembers my days as newbie to IRC and was probably there when I started dating whatshisface, I mean, Jeremy, I mean, my husband. Brian Hayden came out of the woodwork to give me grief, as well. Though I haven't seen him SINCE my wedding. Ahem. Lazy bastard. ;) Sarah, with only 6 hours of work left today ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Aug 2002 12:56:37 -0400 From: "Alexis Ramos" To: Subject: Megadeth mini rant Message-ID: I just want to make a comment about Megadeth's breakup and future. Why the hell doesn't Dave Mustaine dedicate to simply singing and writing while letting other guitarists fill in the guitar duties? If he suffered some kind of injury that doesn't let him play guitar anymore, why did he break up the band instead of just getting another guitarist to fill his shoes? There is/was a rumor that the other Megadeth members, along with Marty Friedman, were trying to form another band. Wouldn't it be awesome if they just got Mustaine to sing/write and reassembled Megadeth? I know Mustaine's a very good guitarist and that he has a very unique style, but come on, Megadeth could still be an awesome band if he didn't play guitar. Imagine Friedman and Pitrelli sharing the lead guitar roles (WOW)... Dave's voice, though, needs to be there if it's going to be called Megadeth, along with his songwriting. Any other opinions? By the way, could somebody who has Zero Hour's Towers of Avarice please post a review for the album? It would be very appreciated. You and J were 90 minutes up the road. You had a car, I didn't. Sometimes it's best to let a band just go to help reevaluate just where you want to be. I mean let's face it. Dave is not the same angry young man who wrote Peace Sells...But Who's Buying. The band peaked commercially with Countdown to Extinction. After that the consistency of material has not been the same. Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings have some classic songs, but as a whole are not classic albums. Risk was huge mistake. World Needs a Hero was a decent attempt at a return to form, but the it should have been called "Album Needs a Song." Motorpsycho as a single?? I mean come on. Even worse was the video for that track. When did scantily clad women ever become part of a Megadeth video? Personally, I'd rather Dave go do something outside of the realm of music. He's got the smarts to do spoken word material. He could write a book. He can follow in the footsteps of people like Henry Rollins, Jello Biafra, Kory Clarke, etc... Sure the guy can write a riff and can write a song, but if his heart isn't into it anymore why continue to let the image of a once great Megadeth continue to tarnish. Glenn And no, I don't have a review of Tower's of Averice. ----- Original Message ----- From: Alexis Ramos Any other opinions? > > By the way, could somebody who has Zero Hour's Towers of Avarice please post a review for the album? I don't think his ego could stand it. I also think this was a good reason to end Megadeth's career without saying "No one buys our music anymore, so we're giving up". I was a pretty big fan of Megadeth. I even got yelled at by Dave himself backstage once. But Risk and WNaH just weren't that good. I tried to like them, I really did. The time had come to move on. I hope Pitrelli goes back to Savatage and TSO, if they're both still around. I don't know if I'd want Friedman part of another group. I loved his solo stuff, I love both of the Cacophony disks, but from what I've read, he was influential in the change of Megadeth's sound. He wanted less metal and more pop. I'm not down with that. tk -----Original Message----- From: ytsejam@torchsong.com [mailto:ytsejam@torchsong.com] On Behalf Of Alexis Ramos Sent: Wednesday, August 14, 2002 12:08 PM To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: Megadeth mini rant I just want to make a comment about Megadeth's breakup and future.
