All-star prog lineup ...Timo Kotipelto on vocals (of course:), Jan Kainulainen (Stratovarious-bass), Mike Romeo (Sym-X-guitars), Roland Grapow (ex-Helloween-guitars), Sami Virtanen (Warmen-guitars), Janne Wirman (Children of Bodom/Warmen-keys), Mikko Markin (Sonata Arctica-keys), Mirka Rantanen (Tunnel Vision/ Warmen-drums), Gas (HIM-drums). I really like it so far. I have only listened to it straight through twice. It is coming out on Century Media. It may already be out. I am not sure. I didn't see anyone post about it so..... Anyone care to give the obligatory sound clip address? I too lazy :) Thorin ---YTSEJAM FILTER: Rest of message skipped because of attachment ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 6 Aug 2002 16:11:14 -0700 (PDT) From: Brian Hansen To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: re: Porcupine Tree Message-ID: email_address_removed wrote: > I have a buddy thats big time into em, the new cd is coming out on > ATLANTIC. Surprised the hell out of me, said Atlantic reps saw 1 show and > signed em that night. That's interesting. I saw them in SF. Good show. I have Signify and have heard Stupid Dream. I was expecting a little more atmospheric, Floydish set list. As it was, they stuck mostly to the heavy, electric guitar oriented songs. A friend who had never heard them, said that they were good, but sounded like all the other new rock bands (at least in SF). In other words, they sounded just like a band that Atlantic would sign. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Don't know if anyone out there even knows who they are but about 7-8 years ago they were the heviest, tightest band in Seattle, only to get crushed by that crappy ass Grunge Juggernaught. I tried to rally everyone I could in order to show support but it was a small turnout. But you didn't post it to the list so I could go. :( Trevor ---YTSEJAM FILTER: Rest of message skipped because of attachment ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Aug 2002 04:31:40 -0700 (PDT) From: rob denni To: ytsejam Subject: Meshuggah Message-ID: Finally some talk I'm interested in! The first song I heard from them was "Future Breed Machine" and I was hooked. I saw them at Ozzfest in Atlanta, and they pulled off all that crazy shit live. They even had the guitars split from the left speakers to the right speakers just like on the albums. Agreed. If anything, it's crazier than Meshuggah. It also has some of the greatest song titles in the history of metal, like my favorite "The Executive Furies of the Robot Lord of Death." To the intrigued, there's a few clips on Meshuggah's website: http://www.meshuggah.net/disco/sol/ >Does anybody know anything about a new Megadeth cd that's supposed to be >coming out on September 10, called "Still Alive & Well"? What's supposed >to be in it? I did some minor digging and found a site listing "Still Alive and Well" by Johnny Winter as the song Dave Mustaine supposedly wanted played at his funeral ( http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Frontrow/4279/bio.htm ). Aside from that useless gobbet of trivia, I couldn't find anything else. Maybe this is a 'funeral' album, b-sides and modern studio crud that never made it onto anything?
