This is due to the fact that the recording industry in Europe shuts down for the months of July and August (certain countries vary as to which month they are closed). Anyway...I regret to announce that the release of "Rooms of Anguish" is now "Officially" scheduled for October 28th. HOWEVER I am currently trying to get the label to push it up earlier in the month...and because of the extreme delay in the release, the label has agreed to allow us to begin sharing some of the music with everyone who is as anxious as I am for this release. This is what Elevate has agreed upon: Starting in August, we will be allowed to upload one new song every two weeks to our MP3 website, until the release in October: (roughly 1/2 of the CD) ( http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/266/power_of_omens.html ) This link is also found on our website as well. We have also been given the green light to allow interested DJ's to play "pre-selected new material" on their internet shows. Interested DJ's can e-mail the band for info on how to obtain a copy of the promo/demo...please e-mail all inquiries to this address: email_address_removed At the moment, Jax is currently working on a whole new website which will include artwork from the new CD, as well as a completely new look. I know that the delay in this release is something no one wanted, but at least for now, we were able to find some way around the wait to start sharing the new music with you. THANKS TO ALL who have been so patient and so supportive...you are the very reason we put every bit of heart and soul into what we do. Keep on Progressing!!!! Message-ID: <000e01c22aa2$fc3e3900$9cf38044@amada> Hello, I've been off the jam for about 3 years or so, and just re-subscribed. I was wondering what any of you would recommend for new CDs that have come out in the last year or two. My tastes are like Symphony X, Strato, Pantera, Awake-era Dream Theater, Metallica, etc. Any info is appreciated. It's weird being back on the jam after being off for so long, it's not even half the volume it used to be. I remember back when I first subscribed getting over 100 posts a day in ack mode. Well, if any remember me and care what I'm up to now, check out my music at http://www.castofshadows.com I hope you like what you hear, I hope to have my album released within the year. Take care and thanks for any info, ~Vince www.castofshadows.com mailto:email_address_removed ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Jul 2002 20:12:29 -0500 From: Bill Wrightson To: "'ytsejam@torchsong.com '" Subject: Shaman? I love the experimentation of disc 1 and the sheer awesomeness of disc 2. -G email_address_removed ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Jul 2002 08:14:34 -0700 (PDT) From: Dave Peterson To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Best of 02 (6DOIT, Satch, Opeth, SX, Nightwish, DTownsend, Soilwork, DTranquillity, Meshuggah) Message-ID: Regarding 6DOIT's CD2... Although it's still miles better than anything off of WDADU or FII, as soon as I heard the lyrics talking about another girl living on another house on another hill who's mentally unstable and has a loving father that just doesn't know what to do, I vomited in my own mouth. Is Petrucci the one who's writing these ridiculous lyrics? If so, would someone please slap the pen out of this man's hand and tell him to just shut up and play? On other notes... Can I people specify in more detail why they're really liking Satriani's new CD, "Strange, Beautiful Music"? I really thought he hasn't written anything original in a decade and would love to hear that he's doing something different. Maybe he's been taking lessons from his student, Mr. Vai. GOD I hope the new Symphony X is something different. They have SOOO fallen into a comfortable groove right now and it's getting tiresome. Please guys, something different this time? Ditto with Nightwish - is the new one different at all? Also, can someone give specifics about the new Dark Tranquillity? I'm very interested in hearing what it's all about! Anything that Devin Townsend touches turns to gold, in my humble opinion. Terria and Soilwork's NBC are just two examples. Devin will change music as we know it. Just you wait and see. My faves so far this year (in no particular order) Soilwork - Natural Born Chaos Arjen Lucassen - Space One DT - 6DOIT I saw someone mentioned a new Opeth album for this year. If it's true, could you direct us to a link that gives the details, please? All I see is an old message (1/01) from Mikael describing a 2CD that should be released in late 2002. Any updates? An unmentioned, yet HUGELY anticipated album for next month: MESHUGGAH - Nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (After the album is released, the government will be forced to send out body-carts to neighborhoods across the country. "Bring out your dead!" will be heard each and every morning as the death-toll increases. Funny how the dead all have BIG smiles on their faces...) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Message-ID: I can't imagine the choreography needed to form a respectable and rhythmic dance to music shifting in time signatures from 7/8 to 3/4 through 5/4 and back into 11/8. It would be prodigiously intricate, and furiously entertaining at the same time, not to mention worthy of surpassing the infamy of the Lambada (The Lambada? Thats the Forbidden Dance=!). And yes one guy dancing in a crowd of 1800 is weird. But self-expression is the muse right? And props to the guy for doing it (you wouldn't catch me 'bustin' a move' to the likes of Yes, Fates Warning or Enchant, though. I'll stick to James Brown and Jamiroquoi!). But it does bring up some interesting conversations. I'm still thinking a prototype merging of space-funk and ambient progressive metal would be an insanely groovaliciously spectacular funkadelic contribution to the annals of theatrical musical dance arts....
