I'd love to be one of those Knights. It's a lot of fun, but it can also be dangerous since even well-choreographed jousts can go awry. I work at the Georgia Rennaissance Faire (in season :)) selling stage-combat-ready swords and axes, so we hear all the best stories, usually first-person, at our booth. (Starfire Swords, www.starfireswords.com) The current jousting company for the Faire, Hanlon-Lee Action Theater, choreographs their shows complete with "deaths" and blood-packets, and rarely does a show come off EXACTLY according to plan. Thanks to good equipment and stage-managing, serious accidents are rare, but I've seen broken limbs and once, a broken collarbone...not to mention a groinal kick last week...from a horse. Ouch! That's why they get paid the big bucks. :) Still, it's gotta beat pumping gas or flipping burgers. :D -- +--- Paul W. Someone who wants a piece of >Dream Theater's musical legacy would be thrilled to own it!!! (the following spoken as an experienced Ebayer) Then he should at least put "Dream Theater" in the title of the auction. Also there is a minimum bid that must be met to win the drums, ten grand is just a starting point, but you won't get the drums if you only bid ten. And shipping is not included. For 10G I would expect him to drive it out to my house, set it up and give me lessons. Doesn't he get drums for free20 And whose going to send $10-15,000 to someone with ZERO feedback! :) Trevor ---YTSEJAM FILTER: Rest of message skipped because of attachment ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 14 May 2002 20:36:16 -0400 From: "Scott (Virtuality)" Subject: Obtained new RUSH CD, legally! Message-ID: Day Three, Week 19, Month 5, Year 2002 (Gregorian Calender), Time: 10:19 Destination: Best Buy, Raleigh, NC Objective: Obtain NEW Rush CD, Vapor Trails with minimum of conversation with clueless store employee's, the cheapest price possible (on credit card, for that "Play Now Pay Later" routine), and thereafter, exiting the store in as stealthfully a manner as possible as to avoid invoking the wrath of the Dieties of Motor Vehicle Collisions Before Arriving at Final Destination of Home (aka: not-so-humble abode). Results: Unparalleled success! CD Retail price list $18.99, stickered on sale for $13.99, rings up on cash register (or monetary transaction transportation device operated by funny looking juvenille's in nebbishy Best Buy store colors of Blue & Yellow, and the obligatory khaki's... I feel like I'm at the LLBean Entertainment Store!) for $11.99. Subsequent actions: Sprints out of store before authorities can reclaim my merchandise for conspiratorial reasons, and avoids cell-phone toting, SUV Driving Soccer Moms oblivious to the obvious hellacious day the gods of Progressive Music intended it to be. Current Status: Placement of persona is in a stationary position, typing inane and inocuous little disertation on the mere process of purchasing new Rush CD. CD is in player. Jury awaits their mandate to rule on the contents of said CD. Directive: The Jury is still out. Incidental aside: The CD is much more organic than anything in Rush's recent past (with the exception of TFE), Hugh Syme's artwork is as subtle, artistic and enjoyable as ever. .. I read three myself from Ebert, Entertainment Weekly and the USA Today, and there wasn't much of anything good in any of them. I hope they're wrong. I guess the postings over the next week will tell us more. -d ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 May 2002 00:48:31 -0400 From: "Neil Evans" To: Subject: Re: Shteve Moas Message-ID: <003501c1fbcb$c437ab00$e10df7a5@byteme> Aris, You are most welcome. I am something of a Morse fanatic (in case you couldn't tell), so I enjoy showing others "the light", as it were. To add to my previous comments, I feel Steve is about the most versatile rock guitarist I've seen. He really is able to play in a wide variety of styles, with great facility in all of them. In other guitar news, I just picked up 3 Greg Howe discs (to add to the 3 I own already). That guy is SICK with technique. If you like jazzy fusion, Greg Howe is at the top of the heap. cheers, -Neil. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 May 2002 06:58:59 -0500 From: "Souter, Jan-Michael" To: "'ytsejam@torchsong.com'" Subject: RE: STAR WARS Reviews Message-ID: Do not take critics opinions to heart.
