Who or what is this? Is it any good? Tenacious D is the greatest band in the world. I used to think it was self-proclaimed, but after seeing them earlier this year, I must say that they truly are the greatest band in the world. TD is made up of Jack Black and Kyle Gass, who play acoustic guitars. Both are actors; Jack was recently in Shallow Hall and Orange County, but is probably best known for his roles in High Fidelity and Saving Silverman. Kyle has been in a few movies, and can also be seen in the special edition DVD of Almost Famous (in an extremely funny scene that was cut from the original movie). They got their start doing 15 minute shows on HBO (I believe it was after the Mr. Show program). They have an album out, which features a full band on most tracks (David Grohl of the Foo Fighters is on it). I wore my Tenacious D t-shirt to the 3/28 Beacon Theater show in which I was in the front row, and MP pointed me out and gave me a thumbs up. Another strange but true fact: The Beatles medley Transatlantic did on the 2001 tour was very similar (almost to the note) to the Beatles medley Tenacious D usually closes its shows with. So, not only was it a nod to the Beatles, but it also was a nod to Tenacious D. I caught one of their tunes on a local late-night progressive/underground metal radio show, and it was damn cool! I'm listening to their song "Believe" right now (www.rainfellwithin.com) - cool dark keys and guitar work, and operatice female vocals. Think Phantom of the Opera w/ double bass. :-) Many of the band members list Dead Can Dance and The 3rd & The Mortal as influences, but I've never heard those bands so I can't make any comments on whether or not they reflect their influences. -Dan. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Apr 2002 03:50:57 -0400 (EDT) From: email_address_removed (Steve Chew) To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: Marillion Message-ID: > >>So, what was your decision? I don't check my email very often, but I had to throw my two cents in this one.) No but really. I'm posting because I'm at an impasse, and was wondering what yall's solutions were. What is the best mp3 network? I'm currently using KaZaA, but it's a real piss off because no one shares his or her files; plus it's got spyware, I'm told. I'm looking for something with a lot of selection, and preferably also videos, no ads, and no spyware. Any suggestions? _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Apr 2002 11:58:03 +0000 (UTC) From: Eric George To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: Re: is dr. mosh a bad guy? Gator is spyware, simple and plain. The difference between Audio Galaxy and some other ptp software is that the spyware in Audio Galaxy isn't critical to the system, and I don't believe Audio Galaxy automatically re-installs it.
