Please note that there is of course room for a small amount of error - in my tallying everything (which I tried to be meticulous abooot which will come as no surprise to those of you who know me) as well as those who may have misunderstood the questions and responded incorrectly, which I know was the case at least a couple times as people's responses seem to conflict with the additional comments they made in their e-mail; when I replied and asked if these were the correct answers they replied that they made the mistake because they had just woke up or whatever... In any case, thanx to everyone who replied no matter what your opinion was! :) Here's the results: Total number who responded: 254 1. Your opinion of Dream Theater covering Master of Puppets in it's entirity a) The best idea in the world.....77 = 30.3% b) A pretty good idea.....127 = 50% c) No opinion.....6 = 2.4% d) Not thrilled but can handle it.....23 = 9.1% e) Absolutely against the idea.....21 = 8.3% 2. Would you like to see Dream Theater cover a different album by someone else, in it's entirity if it's done only on rare occasions and if they redo the songs Dream Theater style? a) Yes.....209 = 82.3% b) No.....45 = 17.7% 3. Your opinion of Metallica's Master of Puppets a) Love it.....188 = 74% b) Hate it.....4 = 1.6% c) No opinion.....16 = 6.3% d) Never heard it.....19 = 7.5% e) Don't like it, but want to hear how DT would do it.....4 = 1.6% f) None of the above.....23 = 9.1% NOTES: For question 3, I should have included a "It's OK" or "I like it" choice as a decent number of people who chose "F" (none of the above) made a little comment saying that they liked it, but didn't love it. There was a number of people who said that they didn't mind DT doing covers, but just not doing all the songs off of one album. Some of the people said that their response would depend on if they were only seeing one show or not and whether that show was a "special" show or not. Several people expressed that they thought this poll was silly, but many more told me that I "rule" for setting up this poll. Also several said they appreciated the private nature of the poll. A number of people not only stated that this was their favorite album by Metallica, but their favorite album in general. On at least a few occasions I saw the "my favorite band playing my favorite album" comment. In retrospect, I wish that the MP3s had begun to circulate before the poll so that I could include the question "Did you hear the MP3s of the Barcelona performance? Does hearing the MP3s from that show change your mind (for or against) DT covering MoP?" I also wish I would have included a couple more choices - mostly for #2 and #3 but I didn't. Oh well. Still I think this shows (ASSuming that the above is the general average among DT fans) that the vast majority of the fans are open to the idea of DT covering an album in it's entirity on rare occasions. It also shows that most DT fans love the Master of Puppets album. 91 people (35.8%) thought it was (B) thought DT doing MoP entirely was a pretty good idea, (A) they should cover other albums, (A) love MoP 66 people (26.0%) thought it was (A) thought DT doing MoP entirely was best idea in the world, (A) they should cover other albums, (A) love MoP ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 6128 ************************** === Contributions to ytsejam: ytsejam@torchsong.com === === Send requests to: ytsejam-request@torchsong.com === === Brought by the ghost of ytsejam@arastar.coms past === === Reach the owner of this list at: ytsejam-owner@torchsong.com ===
