Solitary Shell comes from Peter Gabriel. And The Great Debate takes its riffs from the same Tool song that HOME did!! And there's a lot more. Sometimes it's good to have influences and reshape some other band's material, but it's obvious on this CD that a lot of music was taken, AND IT STICKS OUT TOO MUCH in some places!! I also don't know how to respond to 6doit. It has some great music, but just doesn't come close to being a classic. I actually think it's one of their weakest releases. Also, although it's two discs long, it seems short. I like the first disc because it's experimental and seems to be separate from the second. But I also feel that although the first disc is almost an hour long, it is still only five songs long. Just because the songs are long doesn't mean that it seems like a whole CD, IT JUST FEELS LIKE FIVE SONGS!!! Maybe it will sound better after a few weeks. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 2 Feb 2002 14:41:46 +0000 (UTC) From: Eric George To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: RE: Solitary Shell Rip Off Message-ID: On Fri, 1 Feb 2002, David or Tammy Landis wrote: > YES!! The Tool riff used in "The Great Debate" however, is from the song "Sober" from Undertow. Both are undoubtedly Tool riffs slightly revamped, but they are deffinetly from two sepperate Tool songs. Thought you should at least have the facts straight. :) Personally loving 6DoIT, eric -- "The least important things in life seem to get the most appreciation. I dont hear it. i do hear the main riff that goes right about 1:58-2:15 "my shadow, changes coming thru my shadow, etc" in 46& 2 as the closest to the riff before James screams "life to save life!" Maybe there getting tired of reviewing all the sound-alike teeny bop/hip-hop/rap crap that's coming out these days (or, more likely, it was the only notable release this past week). Whatever the reason, it's always nice to get some positive pub for the otherwise unnoticed greatest band ever.... -- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ebay auction page including many rare and out of print cds: http://cgi2.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewListedItems&userid=email_address_removed -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 2 Feb 2002 14:21:59 -0500 From: "Rob Pociluk" To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: Solitary Shell Rip Off...NOT!!! To sit and dissect this song or the Great Debate like this seems pretty damn silly. I thought you guys liked DT. Lighten up! It's just music!!!
