I don't want to support a monopolized industry that is robbing from the citizens to feed their growing coffers, and offering nothing in return but a 'ticket'. Exchanges, refunds, and good customer service (if you can even get THAT far) are virtually unheard of, so, like with computer software, we pay inflated prices, rationalized by 'customer services improvements' which is a load of rubbish, and the quality and quantity of service dwindles to what amounts to acceptable legal extortion. Look at the breakdown of prices that Kez posted: Verilly, almost 36% of a ticketprice is abstract corporate bullshit price inflation without rhyme or reason, as far as I know. Where are the Deities of Justice and Compassion, I ask thee? (Rant mode off) Wish I was going to see DT. I don't have many options, they aren't even playing close to the Carolina's. Gotta love this part, they're building in "planned obsolescence" too: "Even when the protection technology works as intended, Wirtz said that normal wear and tear could eventually overwhelm the error correction for the altered discs, causing them to become unreadable within a few years. " Lot's of other good stories there too: Returing cd's can defeat them: http://news.com.com/2100-1023-276036.html?legacy=cnet Name 'em and shame 'em: http://www.fatchucks.com/corruptcds/ As for dvd's that can't be recorded onto VHS, it looks like AOL Time Warner has taken the lead and made all of their dvd's unrecordable. Unfortunately, that includes the dvd of DT/SFaM... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE video emails in Yahoo! G3 was comin' to my town, but changed their mind after the 9/11 events that followed. Soooo, TicketBastich ripped me and my buddies off, with about $5 of so called service when we went in for the refund. Now, DT is comin', and we had the chance to buy the tickets without the TM surcharge if we bought them at the venue, but, unfortunately those ticket sales go off until february i think, while the TM tickets already are in sale. The venue is kinda small (1500-2000 capacity), so we were in a way obligated to buy a ticket now off TM if we wanted to make sure that we go to the concert, 4cause i don't think that there'll be any tickets left by february. Mauricio PS. The surcharge for this ticket is actually almost half of that ticket for the G3 concert. But then, the G3 gig was going to take place in a way bigger venue. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dr. Scott Mosher" To: "Multiple recipients of list" Sent: Friday, January 18, 2002 5:18 PM Subject: Ticket Prices (Ticketmaster) > (Rant mode on) > > We, the citizens (fans, supporters, fellow artistes, aficionados, connoisseurs, whatever the term of the day may be), are inundated with ridiculous (and rising) ambiguous fee's and surcharges from TICKETMASTER, which is one reason I don't attend many major events any longer. On > Jan. 29, venture out of the house and buy the CD at a > record store! :) What this shows me is that there are lots of people who don't trust their local CD shops to supply the disc on the release date or close enough to. I thought this problem wasn't mine with Utopia Records here in Sydney. They had SFaM ready and waiting for the release date to tick over. However, from my calls to them, they refuse to give a date when they'll have it, and they only say "early february". This might just be store policy to not give exact dates, but it still makes me paranoid. However, I will pin my hopes on Utopia... so they'd better come good! I asked a guy at Utopia yesterday and he told me they would have it in stock on Jan 24th, both normal jewel case version and digipak. He told me they would have 100 or so copies. -- Best regards, Graham mailto:email_address_removed.au ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 6086 ************************** === Contributions to ytsejam: ytsejam@torchsong.com === === Send requests to: ytsejam-request@torchsong.com === === Brought by the ghost of ytsejam@arastar.coms past === === Reach the owner of this list at: ytsejam-owner@torchsong.com ===
