He's not doing anything different than established companies like TicketCity in Austin do. They buy big chunks of tickets for everything (UT football games, every major concert, etc) and sell them at a higher price than if you got the tickets from the source. Most states in the US will let you price tickets for a designated amount above the face value, based on where the show is held. In New York state, the law allows for "$5 or 20% above the established price, whichever is greater, plus lawful taxes." That's the difference between legitimate ticket resellers and scalpers -- one is operating within the bounds of the law, the other ain't. $190 for one ticket is obviously in the latter category. Disc 1 is perhaps the best thing the band has ever done. It sounds fresh, despite the influences of bands like Radiohead and Tool, it still is DT and quite different to anything else I've heard from them. Disc 2, I haven't listen to yet :/ -- Best regards, Graham mailto:email_address_removed.au ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Dec 2001 08:11:02 EST From: email_address_removed To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: I hope to see you all there Message-ID: --part1_8a.10987ed9.29436b66_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" U know, this is the first time i have written in this forum. I must say that some of the stuff on here is pretty dumb, but on the same token, it helps alot. I saw Tickets for the show in NYC go for 200 on EBAY. I was pissed. I know that face value of the tickets are only 30 a pop. It says so on the friggin ticket. Its people like that who are gonna piss me off to no end. 2nd, From what ive heard, the new album is gonna kick all kinds of major ass-ticals so im lookin forward to that. On that note. Oh, I'm frowning! Good to hear there are still some available yet. Though knowing my luck I will never hear about them until they're sold. Where would they be made available, through the venue? Ticketbastard? Do you know? I just hate last-minute deals, like "sure things." -- From: "Paul W. Cashman" >I've got a ticket on the way, now it's only a matter >of getting to NYC from Atlanta. :) Don't talk to me! :) All I have to do is get in a car. But then I'd be standing, cold, outside the venue. Damn, damn damn. This wasn't ever mentioned on list, but sent out via some speical announcement list from the official site. I got it forwarded to me from my cousin, but that still didn't help us out... Blargh! Alex __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Haven't seen DT in about 3 years (Outside of the meet & greet here in Raleigh over the summer), and being a NY/LI'er myself, I have plenty of fond DT memories from over the past 13 years, too... (Sundance, the Roxy, Spit, Sparks, etc)... Can anyone say 'Scott regrets his temporary relocation to NC moreso than ever before?'. Atleast I got to see Fates at the Village Pub in PJ, NY before I moved...
