YTSEJAM Digest 6023 Today's Topics: 1) cds to check out by "Robert Newcomb" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 16 Nov 2001 18:46:26 -0600 From: "Robert Newcomb" To: Subject: cds to check out Message-ID: <000901c16f01$4dba7400$message_id_removed> There are two new discs that I think some of you guys should check out. My Dying Bride--The Dreadful Hours and (as I am sure most have already) Symphony-X--Live on the edge of Forever. Now you can say what you want about My Dying Bride and the last couple of albums. Personally I didn't like them much. However, their new album is excellent. It is like they took the best elements of Opeth, Type O Negative, and their own stuff to make a dark, moody, gothy, progressive album. There are some string arrangements that really impressed me. This is definitely the surprise album of the year for me. I picked up the live Symphony-X: Live on the Edge of Forever double disc today. I am always a bit cautious about live albums. Most live albums suck for one of two reasons. One, they fail to capture the live feel. Two, they suffer from poor mixing. Overall this is a great live cd. It does capture the live feel well and the mixing is good. The only small complaint is that in certain parts I would have had Michael Pinnella's keys a little louder. DT-LSFNY is my favorite live album BTW. -Thorin ---YTSEJAM FILTER: Rest of message skipped because of attachment ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 6023 ************************** === Contributions to ytsejam: ytsejam@torchsong.com === === Send requests to: ytsejam-request@torchsong.com === === Brought by the ghost of ytsejam@arastar.coms past === === Reach the owner of this list at: ytsejam-owner@torchsong.com ===
