I would > like to see some older songs played, along with new > ones. Are they going to play the title tune at 40 > minutes? I think at this point the only person who knows what DT's gonna play is MP, and maybe the rest of the band. Considering what the band (especially Mike)'s opinion was of playing the same setlist night after night after night (playing SFaM in it's entirity) I highly doubt that they will do the same thing on this next tour. In fact, if they did include the title track from SDoIT, I'd be surprised if they included anything else off the new one during the same show (except for perhaps the shortest song which is only 7 mins long). Add to this the fact that on the last American and European legs of the tour, DT played a 2.5 hour set, so there's a possibility that this could happen again. One thing I do know for certain: when I met up with MP on the G3 tour, I drilled him with questions (go to the official updates section of the Forum at www.mikeportnoy.com for a full rundown) and one of the things he told me was to hit several shows if at all possible on this next tour, as he has some "killer ideas" for the setlists. So even tho you have a life Rob, and I don't ;o) make sure you go to at least a couple of shows when DT swings thru your area. Scott PS Tho this is just pure speculation, it wouldn't surprise me if maybe we'll finally get to see at least part of When the Water Breaks played live, and perhaps the return of some of the other tracks we've been missing, such as TKH, UaGM, 6:00, Scarred, LitS and ToT. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 27 Sep 2001 21:58:25 -0400 From: "AdmiralDave" To: "YtseJam Mailing List" , Subject: Pineapple Message-ID: <005a01c147c1$140ad900$0101a8c0@main> I like it, it tastes good. Am i missing something here? is that being re-issued or something? Got the Live Evolution set, and I really like the gritty sound of it -- no super studio polish job on that set, and it's a good thing, really feels like a LIVE sound. that's not a rip on DT's live scenes, but just judging on the feel of the sound, i like that of Live Evolution better. For what it's worth, i grabbed the QR from Best Buy, and when i passed by the area where DT's stuff is, there was a big (11X14??) sign, basically saying that they felt that the LSfNY cover was inappropriate in light of the recent national tragedy and they decided to not offer that item. There was a bit more about how the newspaper ad was printed before 9/11, and the fact that they reprinted some of the ads, but couldn't pull all the ads, and the requisite apologies. I didn't ask about rainchecks or anything.... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Listen to your Yahoo! Now THIS is what I am personally anticipating. And the new ENGINE CD (early next year?). Both will hopefully surpass the excellence of the previous releases, though the ENGINE ('99) CD was 75% incredible to begin with. SfaM was very good, just, imho, not up to the standards of the last CD or two or five. Of course, I may have a new CD (VIRTUALITY 2? Nah... a continuation, maybe...) next year, too. Perhaps DT will be gracious and perform pro bono in opening act status for a listening party? LOL. Anyhow... peace. I mean, most people who do not like DT mention either the shredding or the voice. Now, neither point got me, but I never actually thought about disliking the voice. I guess it comes from the development of my musical "taste" which went along the lines of Nena, ChrisdeBurgh, Phil Collins, Bon Jovi, Scorpions, all the other hairspray adventures and then I had to work my way gradually to DT, at first considering them to be too hard (same e.g. with MoP/metallica which I now like). Ever since I played the guitar I was focused more on the music than on the vocalist (I know that the voice is an instrument, but...) and now, while I listened to Winter Rose I realized that it is also a hairspray band musically: rock'n'roll Concluding I'd like to say that I forgot the whole point while writing, but I never had a problem with james's voice. sab _______________________________________________________________________ 1.000.000 DM gewinnen - kostenlos tippen - http://millionenklick.web.de IhrName@web.de, 8MB Speicher, Verschluesselung - http://freemail.web.de ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Sep 2001 14:12:57 +0200 From: CyberDuke To: Ytsejam Subject: Caravan Message-ID: > NEARfest is very proud to announce the 6th band for the 2002 > edition of the festival, Canterbury progressive rock legends > Caravan. Wow, Caravan. :) That's an oldie. I was blown away by their "Waterloo Lily" album. There were many great bands back in those days: Focus, Camel, Caravan, .. similar music. Anyone suggests some other Caravan stuff, since Waterloo is the only thing I heard so far? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 28 Sep 2001 06:54:43 -0700 From: Michael Kizer To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: James Murphy news Message-ID: Just got his in a Metal update email: JAMES MURPHY according to Blabbermouth, guitartist James Murphy (Death, Testament, Disincarnate, etc.) has been diagnosed with a brain tumor - Murphy is said to be at home in Florida recuperating from a recent operation that reportedly removed the tumor before it could advance further - at the time of his diagnosis, Murphy was working on a new Disincarnate album with vocalist Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates, The Crown) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- So what is it about the band Death and brain tumors? ~Michael Kizer < email_address_removed > < ICQ # 2070538 > "Enter ivory gates through midnight skies..." ~ http://www.ivorygate.com >>> Fates Warning ~ Island In The Stream <<< >>> Dream Theater and Kevin Moore "Unofficial" Song Books <<< >>> Underground Internet Radio at: http://www.ytseradio.com <<< ------------------------------ End of YTSEJAM Digest 5976 ************************** === Contributions to ytsejam: ytsejam@torchsong.com === === Send requests to: ytsejam-request@torchsong.com === === Brought by the ghost of ytsejam@arastar.coms past === === Reach the owner of this list at: ytsejam-owner@torchsong.com ===
