I take it like this is the start of their new world tour. Is the new album supposed to be out around this time as well? I myself like to listen to music. I also like listening to music at a decent level of quality. This is not a MUST - I have plenty of poor bootlegs, and they still ROCK, and I have a HUGE collection of MP3s - but when i buy e.g. Metropolis 2000: Scenes from New York on DVD I expect a certain level of quality on this recording. However, in order to give this recording a fair chance, it is necessary to use a playback device of higher standards than the DVD-ROM in my computer. SO I have purchased a hi-fi amp, dvd, loudspeakers etc. to the price of approx. $ 3500,- which is a fair middle-class home cinema (not ONLY for the DT DVD, I watch and listen to other things as well, of course). Believe me when I say that no matter how uninterested and ignorant you may be when it comes to audio quality: YOU WILL HEAR THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS AND MY SISTER's STANDARD BOOKSHELF-STEREO!! ALSO, there is a distinct difference between MP3 and a decent CD recording. Notice the word 'decent'; some studio- CDs sound REALLY crappy - Like 'When Dream and Day Unite'... My conclusion to this raving nonsense is that MP3 is a GREAT sound format, that is good enough for most of us, but if you'e looking for reference-class recordings of music, don't even bother listening to it. Can someone either send me his email or phone number, or forward this on to him? I imagine someone here is still in contact with the guy! - Chris ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 8 Sep 2001 21:59:40 -0400 (EDT) From: Eric George To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: Re: Bafu Vai (NDTC) Message-ID: hey chris, have you checked on the MP forum lately. i know that when the jam first really started to slump about a year or so ago, he started to make quite regular appearances over there instead. however, i don't know if he *still* is frequenting it as much as he used to. but if you run out of other options, it's a place to start. later. -eric p.s.- if you do ever get a hold of him, wring his neck & get him back to the jam. the jams during bafu's time here still bring me joy to read......*sniff*.......
