I was reading a weekly newspaper "NYT" that comes with Finland's biggest daily newspaper "Helsingin Sanomat" every Friday and there was an article about name changing - you know, when you're not happy with your last name you can change it by paying FIM 500 ($75). There was a list of names that are popular amongst the name changers in Finland. Lots of cool Finnish names (Sadepilvi, Hopeapuro, Aamutuuli), and then, all of a sudden there's PORTNOY. I just ROTFed when I read this. It made me suspect that the guy who wrote the article is a DT fan or are there really many people who want to get Mike's name here... It really stood out from the rest of the list. And one of the smaller headings on the page says "Portnoy, päivää!" = "Portnoy, good afternoon!" :-) Tanja Tenze.tripod.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Apr 2001 07:47:48 -0400 From: Jason Hartman To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: 5.1 concerts Message-ID: The people that say "What's the point of a live concert in 5.1?" have obviously never heard/seen the Eagles "Hell Freezes Over" concert in DTS. So here we go... To me a singer fits when the voice isn't annoying to me and keeps me wanting to hear what he/she has to say/sing next.. No such thing to me as overplaying on guitar!! The more the better personally. With as much odd-time signature music I listen to, it's hard to tell if the rhythm is off balance.. heh heh If there's more than 2 ballad (slow) types of songs on the CD, to me it ain't rockin'... Two ballads are my limit, and that's by personal choice... heh Are there more than one type of metal song? Yeah! There's tons of metal song types. Can't even begin on that one. A complete singer....that's a tough one. Singers have a style and various styles. To be a complete group, each musician should demonstrate talent in their area. I like to hear a singer that can cover a large range of notes and keep me interested in the next verse.. I like to hear a bass player who can keep the bass groove going and add tasteful extra notes. I like to hear keys that can keep up with the guitar, hold their own without the guitar, and build a solid background of chords. I like the guitarist to be able to keep steady crunchy rhythm while also soloing with finesse and control. Excess notes just for excess is not always desirable. I like to hear a drummer that can hold down the steady beat and change the signature on a dime. Also keeping busy inbetween beats with various percussion. Hmmm I may have rambled a bit too long on this one. hahah! They look pretty cool, but it's not what was ordered, so i'm just going to send them out anyway, and if anyone wants the original design I will replace it free of charge. I might as well get rid of these if I can though, and you might even like it more. Just let me know if you want the purple-ink one and I will take care of it. Also, instead of a girl's medium black shirt, all the girl shirts are small. Now, it would take 3 of these to fit me, but maybe it'll look good on you ytse-babes. As above, try it on, if it's too small let me know and I'll have some mediums made. That said, here is a current list of sizes/colors available: White XL White XXL Black XL Black XXL Black XXXL Black XXXXL Black M Black L Black Girl's Small Yellow XL Yellow XXL Yellow M Yellow L Yellow S There are plenty of XL and XXL, the other sizes are in pretty small quantities.
