I'm gonna be moving out there in a couple months and I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations regarding apartments. I've found a ton of listings, but it's kinda hard to tell which places I don't want to live. Respond privately. Thanks, -Dan. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! Join Juno today! How did it compare with "Songs from a Lions Cage" (the only Arena CD I have so far)? I like that one pretty well, though not enough to put it on all that often. BTW, it may be heresy but I like the CD by 3 Doors Down. It's basic, straight ahead rock, but they've got a knack for putting out some good melodies in both music and vocals. OK, that should start something... ;-) Steve ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 01 Apr 2001 22:33:04 -0700 From: Chris Oates To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: Something... As for what I liked about it, it's got good melodies, a mix of heavy and proggy parts (though not too extreme in either direction) ands the lyrics, while a bit obvious at times, are leagues ahead of many of the powermetal type of bands. I wasn't blown away by them, and I wouldn't put them in the same category as my personal faves such as Symphony X, Pain of Salvation or DT, but they are better than a lot of the other stuff I've bought on a whim. I picked it up about a month or two ago, so it's me most recent good CD I've bought. I could stir up some conversation by posting about a few CDs I've bought recently that I really did not like... Eternity X - "Zodiac" (totally cheezy lyrics) Behind the Curtain "Till Birth do Us Part" (didn't like the singer) I could go on... ~Chris ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Apr 2001 09:55:33 +0200 From: "Coenen, Marcel" To: "'ytsejam@torchsong.com'" Subject: DAM CD's Message-ID: Hello all, Here is some info about DAM CD's: ]From the FAQ "Q: What format are the D.A.M. CDs in? A: The D.A.M. CDs are in both Redbook Audio and .mp3 files, so your fans can listen to your music on their home/car stereo as well as their computer/portable MP3 player." The artist does upload just the MP3 file, and mp3.com will convert the MP3 to an audiotrack, so ofcourse the soundquality is not as good as a normal CD, this is also the reason these CD's are a lot cheaper then the originals, for my CD "Guitartalk" I only ask 7 dollars as a DAM CD, at the time I still shipped it from my house it was 15 dollars with shipping. I won't be able to ship anymore CD's myself, also the guitartalk original CD was a CDR since the album is not an official release. The point is that at MP3.COM you can get different versions of cool songs on a CD as a DAM CD, I recently uploaded a complete livegig of Lemur Voice at MP3.COM which is available as a DAM CD there as well (costs only 8 dollars !), this is not an official release, so the CD cannot be ordered from any of us. I just created it there so people can get a livegig from Lemur Voice in an easy way, also the Divided disc which is very hard to get I uploaded there and made it completely downloadable, this way I want people to get the lemur Voice music they deserve to get since we had so much bad luck with labels and stuff so the second CD "Divided" should be available for everyone. I also made a version of my soloCD Guitartalk on MP3.COM with added the old Apogee demo (This was the kickoff of Aura/Lemur Voice, it features Franck Faber and me), Through MP3.COM we have the possibility to create different CD's which is cool, this way we can arrange that fans can have our music, though maybe with little less sound quality (though not bad at all imo) and for a very cheap price. I also bought the Flatstick CD, and it appears to be a demo, so that is maybe why the sound quality is not too good, the mastering is also way too low, but hey, it is recorded with an 8 track recorder and for a demo it is not bad. just my thoughts here. They were incredibly boring. I was disapointed, their single superman(did I get that right?) was getting a lot of air play at the time and I thought they might be good. My daughter agreed that their set was a snooze fest, however Nickel Back played before them, and they rocked(It didn't hurt that they played Metropolis during their sound check) Pam -- If you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to serve as a horrible warning.--Catherine Aird ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Apr 2001 18:04:14 -0400 From: Ryan P Skadberg To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: DT reference of the day ....
