In that sense, a Dreamcast owner can be jealous, since the DC doesn't play DVDs at all. 2) Every incoherent rant putting forth some false rumor about the PS2 that I've seen has always pointed out somewhere about how much better the DC is. I feel qualified to guess that yet another unfounded rumor was started by a DC fan. Not to say that all DC owners are incoherent, far from it, just that all incoherent PS2 bashers also are DC owners. Since I don't want to start some further flame war over this, let me add: 3) Yes, the best games on the Dreamcast are better than the games on the PS2 at this point. If I had to spend money on a PS2, I probably wouldn't have gotten one yet. Since I got it as a gift, I'm enjoying it. In no way do I think it is assured that PS2 games will "blow the DC out of the water" one day -- it all comes down to the talents of the programmers working on the games. As a game programmer trained in 3D work, I know what the PS2 is capable of, and I know that the current games aren't even coming close. 4) The X-Box will still be better technologically than the PS2, and stands a good chance to be better overall if the programmers can use it. Given the developers signed up, MS may have another winner on their hands, but I'm not placing any bets. I still have some large concerns about whether PC game makers really understand the console market. ~Chris ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 31 Dec 2000 02:57:47 -0500 From: Phil Carter To: A Pleasant Shade of Ytse Subject: Re: Ytse and Jam Message-ID: Greetings ye 'jamanoids... Been a while since that one, but just as funny as it was the first time it was posted. I spit Coke on my monitor when I read "squeeh wahh" the first time, and I spit Coke on my monitor again when I read it this time. Some things never change. "Jam" was right about one thing, though. I've read all but 1 or 2 of the early ones. Don't get your hopes up for Timeline. It was VERY disappointing. Such a great premise....blah....goes nowhere. As for Jurassic. It is my favorite book, I try and read it once a year. This year was my eighth time reading it. Just as good every time, and yes 10 times better than the movie. Lost World. Just a word of note, MC wrote this at the same time that Spielberg was writing the screenplay. Spielberg didn't want to wait on the novel so what he did when MC was done was go through and take out what was cool but pretty much toss the book. So they are not TOTALLY different from each other but different enough to warrant a read. >Am I the only one who thinks that this has some good sounds yet is (overall) >a snoozer ?? I have listened to it for about three times so far. Are there >people who thought the same as I do after a few listens yet with some number >of more listens ends up liking it ?? This was the first PoS CD that I have bought and listened to, from all the praising on the group, I decided to fly blindly into this purchase without ever hearing them. I am impressed. I like it a lot. I have listened to it about 5 or so times, and I do have to say by about track 8 it is time to move on to a different CD, but that will change with more listens. I haven't been able to grasp the lyrics though without the booklet, either. So are the others worth buying? >Are there any Mac users that could give me some ideas on down loading the >Xmas video clip thingy? I can't seem to make it happen. Thanks in >advance. I downloaded it, and have yet to take it into Virtual PC to check it out see if it works, I will let you know. -chris ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 31 Dec 2000 03:39:20 EST From: email_address_removed To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Re: Bon Jovi Message-ID: In a message dated 12/31/00 1:24:28 AM Eastern Standard Time, ytsejam@torchsong.com writes: Kurt Hampton: << But I got the Bon Jovi dvd tonight, its very live (heheh) and its very well done. I saw things like leaves and branches and stuff and tried to figure it out. I would definately love to have the technical difficulty show, however I have no boots of my own to trade. Also, a friend of mine played a disc for me the other day of this guy named Buckethead. Has anybody ever heard of him? He is nuts! Les Claypool plays bass on the cd I heard, and the drummer is from a band called Praxis(hope I spelled it right), which I haven't heard of. If you haven't heard his stuff, you should give it a try. ===== Rob Denni 1657-B Elm Ct. Ft. If you like that, > try Streets and/or Gutter Ballet, and keep working > backwards through their catalog until you find more stuff > that you think sucks. :-) The problem I have with early Sava-stuff is the sound quality is so bad on the recordings. Its from back in analog days and it sounds like it was recorded on a boom-box. It would probably be more appealing if they could remaster or redo all the old, but nobody would buy it anyway. I think Savatage has stalled out, I was really into them a couple of years ago. But when a band doesn't release anything for so many years its hard to support them. I still love their music but they've let me down the past few years. I think commericalized TSO got in the way. I'm afraid what their upcoming album is going to sound like. Of course they've had years to work on it so it better be good. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 31 Dec 2000 18:28:49 -0400 From: "Andre Navarro" To: Subject: Re: Pain of Salvation Message-ID: I don't know what the hell your all taking about, PoS makes me wanna tell someone to slap me up like a bitch.
