I have a mantlepiece thing above an old empty fireplace. I say "empty", but actually it's full of ashes and dust that keeps falling down the chimney. So I just keep all that crap hidden behind one side of a large cardboard box which I have jammed into the space where the fire would have been; but I still get frightened at night sometimes, when a big lump of crap falls down the chimney and wakes me up. (This is in my bedroom, you see.) Anyway, back to the mantlepiece. In the centre of the mantlepiece, I have a small mirror which I use to make myself look beautiful in the mornings. On the right, I have some bottles of whisky and other spirits which I have received as gifts, next to some aftershave and other toiletries. On the left, however, is where I keep my CDs. I have approximately 255 at the moment. In fact, I have *exactly* 255 at the moment. The full listing is at http://www.ytse.freeserve.co.uk/ if anyone's interested. The left side of my mantlepiece is just wide enough to hold six individual stacks of CDs. They are all of the same approximate height. They are not ordered. Whenever I want to listen to a CD, I hunt through the pile to find it. And when I'm done, it goes back on the top of whichever stack is shortest. This self-regulating mechanism has one advantage: the CDs I like the most, and which I listen to the most, are always near the top of one of the stacks. Beautiful. Neal Morse's Christmas album is steadily working its way down towards the bottom of stack 2. I'll also try to put up some newer digests >>that I have. > >ok ! i checked it last night and it works ! thanks again! > Hi, I've created a new and improved version of the Ytsejam Digest Archive. It now has a lot more digests and, even better, has a way to search the digests for the information you want. So, if you want to read about Ben Laussade's silly escapades on the Jam from the mid-nineties then you can just type his name into the search engine and it will pull up all the digests containing "laussade". The search engine isn't particularly fast, but it works pretty well as long as you use words that aren't used in every digest (eg. ytsejam). Unfortunately, I'm missing quite a few digests so if any of you out there have any archives of the Ytsejam in standard Unix mailbox format, let me know and we can fill in the archive. Enjoy! Oh, it's also at a new URL: http://www.interzone.com/Music/Ytsejam Steve -- Steve Chew - email_address_removed - http://www.interzone.com "I think that we should be men first, and subjects afterward. There is no word yet as to what the project will be called, but it'll no longer be Platypus. Apparently, the new material will be more heavy and guitar-driven than both of the Platypus albums. The new album should be ready for release in Spring 2001. The other project will feature Ty Tabor of KING'S X and Derek Sherinian of PLANET X.
