And the thing is so dmn loud, but i hear power brakes suck, does anyone have an idea on what to do about that? Try the THD Hot Plate. Does the same thing, but is more effective. Also comes in several ohm ratings (2, 2.7, 4, 8 and 16). And the thing is so dmn > loud, but i hear power brakes suck, does anyone have an idea on what to do > about that? 2 solutions come to mind. 1). Earplugs or 2). a direct box that's made for this sort of thing. Power Brakes can be okay, but they're expensive, and they supposedly aren't too good for your amp. I believe Digital Music Corp makes a product that would be perfect for you, if you're talking about recording. The CabTone speaker emulator/direct box is like $100 or so, and I heard it over at Brian Wherry's place... it kicked ass. Brian was using it as a speaker emulator mainly, so I was plugged into his TriAxis, and the outputs of the TriAxis go into the CabTone and direct into his mixer. The sound was great. If you are just trying to get the sound of a cranked amp at a lower volume, this won't be your solution... and really, I dont believe it's truly possible to pull that off... you could have the amp modified or what not... or look into what Blues Saraceno has... he's got an attenuator on his amp... you could probably find someone who would be able to do that. But if you've got a GOOD JCM 800 (meaning, you don't have any JCM 800 that I've ever played through... I know good ones are out there, but I've never played through one) you may not want to screw with its guts. So if this is for recording, check out a direct box that can handle amp level signals (do a yahoo search for Digital Music Corp... they have a page somewhere)... if it's for just practicing, I'd buy a POD and put the amp in the closet, to use when you CAN play loud... or you could opt for a Power Break, Power Soak or any other non-creatively named power attenuator. You know, the one problem I have with these is that the stuff in them is so old by the time they get to you. I mean, the interviews that Kirby had with Mike and Jordan in Wisconsin were on February 12th, and that was before I even saw them! I mean, February? It's actually kinda funny, because he says things in it about how he doesn't want to divulge too much info on this or that, etc, and it's stuff that we've all known about publicly for quite a while. I wish there were some way to get them out faster, but just be aware, guys, that I'm not ragging on you at all. These are top-quality productions. ------------------------------------------------- Andrew Coutermarsh email_address_removed http://cout.dhs.org/ Cloak on IRC ICQ: 2513441 ------------------------------------------------- If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you. ------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Nov 2000 09:34:18 CET From: "Schnipp -" To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: symphony x Message-ID: wow, symphony x is coming to hamburg, germany. Also, I think it was Madman whom I met at the Birch Hill '98 holiday show, that one of your buddies is the bass player. Anybody cool to hang out with or are they more the quiet type. Anyway, German jammers (this has probably been covered before, but hey) 8.12.
