Message-ID: >From: "Mariano Gil" >Subject: Empire > >Just a miscelanous question: does anyone know why the cover of Queensryche's >album "Empire" is so poor? The logo is plenty of ugly pixels. It's because Queensryche are a bunch of cumguzzling man-twats, as was evidenced this past summer. ;D DTC: How about some speculations on the next album? I know it's early for it, but let's have some fun and bring some good DT content back to the jam. What do you expect? What would you like to hear? Etc. One thing I know I'd love to hear is a bit more involvement from Jordan, as we all know he took kind of a back seat in the writing process for SFAM. And I'd love to hear him do backing vocals with the rest of the band as well (minus Myung, who can't even speak let alone sing ;). Another thing I'd love and I've always wanted to hear from DT is bigger-sounding orchestration (more guest musicians?) in the style of Angra or Trans-Siberian Orchestra. And of course it's always cool to explore new styles (as per the JP/JR acoustic show ... some of those ideas could have even been expanded for DT material, IMHO). I'm kind of excited to see how this one turns out also because the songs will have individual identities, and there will be more freedom with the lyrics and whatnot. I'd love to see a return to the older, better (IMO) level of DT lyric-writing ... the lyrics from I&W and Awake have been the most inspirational for me personally. So what do YOU think the guys will come up with this time around? Peace, Brian ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 Nov 2000 18:08:17 EST From: email_address_removed To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: Anathema Message-ID: With all the talk of other "prog" bands, I thought I'd jump in to promote Anathema, which is a totally amazing band. OK, so they're not progmetal, it's more like a gothy version of classic Pink Floyd (Think Wish You Were Here era), but their last album, Judgement, is fucking awesome! Great composition, great performances, and just a really immersive atmosphere that conveys a lot of feeling. Highly reccomended-Unfortunately it's insanely hard to find since Anathema lost their US distribution right before this album came out. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Nov 2000 00:24:18 -0500 From: "Joe DeAngelo" To: Subject: Pain of Salvation Message-ID: <003d01c04944$24c3f640$message_id_removed> Brian Hansen said: > Check out "Entropy". Actually it's "Entropia". ;) Brian, I agree with all you said, but just want to clarify for the folks who haven't heard PoS....... the great thing about PoS is that (unlike most prog-metal groups) they do NOT sound all that much like QR, Fates, or DT (they are definitely NOT clones!). Yeah, there is some influence there, but it's definitely not that huge. That being said, Brian is 100% correct in saying they are in the vein of those bands. It's also worth noting that Pain of Salvation has a moderately strong Faith No More influence. At least as far as their chaotic-nature, and (at times) Daniel Gildenlow's vocal delivery (they don't however, have FNM's kinda humorous/silly side).
