Message-ID: Hello there, This email I send out to you with the question if you know people for my new band Sun caged, we are looking for some good musicians, no beginners please !! My new band Sun Caged started out as a project, we recently recorded a demo-CD and now it is time to make a real band out of this, we want to record our upcoming CD very soon, the base we have currently is: Dennis Leeflang (ex-Within Temptation) - Drums Rob Van Der Loo (ex-Rock Fiction) - Bassguitar (7string !!) and Chapman Stick Marcel Coenen (me, I was in Lemur Voice) - Guitars We are searching for a good keyboardplayer who can play the parts Thijs Cuppen did with us, Thijs unfortunately did not find the time to stay in the band. The keyboardplayer has to have skills, remarks: Jordan Rudess, Kevin Moore, Rick Wakeman and spacy sounds !! (ozric) We are also searching for a male vocalist, which range goes from high and clear (like Gregoor has from Lemur Voice) until the crunchy stuff (remarks like Pantera meets faith no more). You can get two complete songs at mp3.com so you can check out our music, we will have livegigs coming soon and also a full length CD recording, Neil Kernon already sent us an email that he wants to produce our record, so we need musicians fast. the site with MP3 songs is located at: http://www.mp3.com/suncaged Our official website is at: http://www.suncaged.com If you are interested and want to join our band or if you know people who might want to please write to: mcoenen@home.nl email_address_removed Or call: +31 (0)650 206 206 The band is located in The Netherlands, we have a rehearsal room in Leiden and also in Limburg. Greetings, Marcel Coenen Guitarist http://www.mp3.com/marcelcoenen ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Oct 2000 15:07:37 +0200 From: CyberDuke To: ytsejam@torchsong.com Subject: mp3s Message-ID: > From: "Al @ Switchcraft" > Subject: Symphony X, and Napster > > My home-brew CD was constructed from 256k bitrate MP3s. I would really like to try testing those again on a good stereo. I just recall when I was listening my ripped Zappa mp3s, in 256 kbps, they sounded really cool on my quite good stereo, the only thing missing was a little bit of DEPTH, like foot bass drum doesn't tickle your foot thru the floor, or the snare, bass guitar are not that thick. But other than that the general quailty was quite good. As I said, the depth and thickness is weaker, but I would whine about it if you REALLY pay attention and TRY to find lacking points. :) At least I think noone would say "Oh my God, that is horrible quailty I can't stand it!" about 256 kbps mp3s. But I think anyway that the current official CD prizes are too high, and that might be the case why today without any conscience guilt I would make mp3s of an album I don't like in its entity (therefore not planning to buy it). I like few songs, so OK, rip mp3s. > Maybe the RIAA has a legitimate bitch. I can't see the average > "Pink" fan giving a fuck about sound quality... And it's > all about money, right? Well the problem they have is that such a sound quality freeks with awesome stereos are really rare, and the usual bunch are just happy with 128 kbps MP3s, no problem at all. Considering on what kind of equipment they're listening those, no wonder they can't see the difference. What happened with Napster, ... last I heard I think was that now they're NOT closing it down, not even after the postponing period. Why is that? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Oct 2000 07:46:20 -0700 From: "Trevor Hoit" To: Subject: skiphony x Message-ID: <001101c03912$2e60e330$message_id_removed> Someone mentioned not being able to find 'V' in stores. Word on the street is that the first pressing has a rather horrific skip in the last tune (something I guess Metal Blade is known for), so I wouldn't be surprised to find that they've been pulled. He SELLS those guitars. The only ones he keeps are the rare JS's, (He's not collecting anymore JS10's, he's got enough of those), but Donnie's, JS-2's, Rainbows and Rainforests, he's ALWAYS looking for those. (If you come across one, he'll trade any guitar for it..). Also, he has that one ATD UVMC he won't sell, it's up for trades only, (Don't bother asking if you can trade your JPM P1 for it, he's talking like 2 JS Donnie's...or other rare JS's). He's an authorized Ibanez dealer, but that's ALL he does is sell Ibanez. He's going to try to get EB/MM for the JPM's from them, but who knows. Rich is a great friend and an INCREDIBLE dealer. ($800 for a NEW JPM P4, just because there was a small chip in the paint, he'll considered it junk). You should see him when he gets a guitar in. He takes it apart, checks soldering, wiring, makes sure EVERYTHING is dead nuts on. Sets it up, then gets it ready to go. Everything around the middle section of Metropolis just builds up to that big crazy instrumental part. After that the the song slowly picks up until the short final climax. So what you created is a song that builds up to ... er ... another short build-up? And with the shortened, intro I guess the first build-up isn't even that great :P - Mike ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Oct 2000 19:10:34 -0400 From: "Joe DeAngelo" To: Subject: Symphony X - V Message-ID: <020901c03958$a227da80$message_id_removed> Mr. Phil Carter said: > Nobody I know has been able to locate it in a store. Yeah, my copy does. In fact, I even returned the thing, and my 2nd copy does the same thing. The CD still plays fine on my home theater DVD player, but on my computer's DVD-ROM it skips horribly from about 7:00 on of the last track. The only thing I don't get is this: I'm assuming that it plays OK on some players because certain player have superior error-correction (or whatever)........ then why the fuck does it play OK on my piece-of-shit stock Delco CD player in my '00 Grand Am (that thing really blows..... perfectly fine CDs always skip on that damn thing), but it doesn't play OK on my computer (in which a CD has NEVER skipped before).
