Even with scaling/rotation/mode 7/ect.. it had so many limitations, and it would freeze up if a game had too much going on, or if it started doing stuff too fast. Electronic gaming monthly gave it a low score (I think a 3) on it's annual system ratings, while Sega Genesis got high scores mostly thanks to Sonic the Hedgehog showing off how well it could handle the fast stuff. But, by the next year, the developers had gotten used to the SNES and it got high scores in EGM's ranking and the Genesis started to slip in popularity. So, PS2 probably will suck when it comes out, but by the time the price drops in a couple months, it'll probably have it's stuff together and be a great system. Why? It has some classic games that are still better than most games today in terms of fun and gameplay." Very true. I haven't been too big on console gaming for a while, although I played Metal Gear Solid for 14 hours straight and spent most of my senior year in high school playing Gran Turismo.. But I've got to agree. I have tons of friends that play the older Final Fantasy versions and some other classics on their SNES emulators. For now, I'd say that PS2 has a good amount of potential. I haven't been keeping an eye on its development like I'm sure a lot of gamer geeks are. I was initially attracted because of the DVD playing capabilities, but I think I'll stick with a regular DVD player and compulsively visit friends that are getting the system. ~~Amanda now feeling the urge to play Simon's Quest ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Oct 2000 01:43:41 -0500 From: "Chris Ptacek" To: Subject: Time for GuitarWar Message-ID: <000901c030f3$1a38f360$8184e5cf@someone> Hey, someone will probably get mad that this is being posted to the jam (because now this site may get flooded with JP Psychos) but I guess some people here might get a kick out of GuitarWar.com.
